I was having problems at high RPMs.

I chased jetting, valve adjustments, and carb adjustments for weeks. I finally figured it was the stator. Ordered a new one, started it for a couple secs and it died. I had spark for a while, and unplugged the connections, cleaned all of them and plugged everthing back in. Now I have no spark. The light still comes on when I'm kicking it, but no spark at the plug. I've pulled the plug, inserted a screw driver and still no spark. It is driving me nuts, please help.

By the way, I just joined the forum and have really enjoyed all the posts that have gotten me this far...Very Useful Forum guys; good work.

Well, good new bad news...

The good:
The wiring from the new stator was wrong. I switch the two wires from the pickup and she immediately had spark and started right up.

The bad:
The thing still stubbles and backfires in the higher RPMs. Started squirting everything with carb cleaner to see if I had and air leak somewhere and noticed my clutch case is trashed! Cracked all around the kick starter. Any ideas how this could happen? Maybe the backfiring?

just from the statment you said about switching the wires, i am guessing the company that made the stator was Electrosport. They suck. we've ran into problems with them a few times,
we ended up sending them back and getting another brand.
The stator might still be the issue.
