I split the cases (along with my knuckle...case halfs are RAZOR sharp BTW...)

The right side main bearing had spun in the case...not to bad...but....

I NEED some opinions on this one...should I get a new case half?

And my finger...just like a razor blade cut....damn thing would bleed like crazy! Since it was on my knuckle, I couldn't super glue it shut either...what a pain...

No....I still had to pound it out, it was tight even after I applied heat to the case.

Maybe use some loctite 660 (metal repair for worn shafts), as added insurance when you reassemble the hole thing.

I've used it on a worn crank shaft where the bearing was .0005" bigger than the shaft. Worked great and hasn't failed so far. I think you can even go up to .002" with that stuff.

What's the OD of the bearing and the ID of the bearing hole in the case? If you had to heat up the case and pound it out, I think you should be fine.

But then again, I'm no expert.[/b]
I haven't measured them...but if it is a "press fit", my venier caliper won't go that fine... I'm sure the difference is probably only 1/2 thou or so...

The new bearing has been in the freezer for 3 days...I will check the fit tonight and see if I can get my caliper in to measure the case...I doubt it though...

I measured the old bearing and the case last night...

The caliper I have needs a little finer graduations...

Case 2.5585
Bearing 2.558

I didn't pull out the new bearing to check it yet...

Loctite Stud and Bearing.

Coat the inside of the case with it, wipe the bearing down with Loctite Prep, drop the frozen bearing into the cases. Let it equalize overnight and stuff the frozen crank in it the next day.

Nothing like a cut right on the knuckle to get your attention eh?[/b]

Cool! Now I have a warm fuzzy!!!

The knuckle didn't hurt at all...just made my workbench look like someone was butchering pigs in my garage...SOB wouldn't stop bleeding!

Slap the cases together with just the crank and bearings beforwe you use the locktite. if there is endplay you need to fix it before lock titing the bearing.[/b]
How did you shim it? Do you have some pictures?

Thanks!
