I have the vortex x10 on my 05 and I know nothing about it. It was on the bike when I got it. Anybody got a link or could you post info on what all the settings are? I couldn't find it on vortex or duncan's website. Thanks a billion.

I just feel they are a useless mod. I have never seen anyone able to prove a worth while performance gain. They just end up causeing more problems due to peoples ignorence on how to use them. As shown in the picture of my head(I had nothing to do with it) It was a stock wheeler for the most part It may of had a High comp piston and a cam.

To offten people look to this black box to fix there performance woes when the problems most likely lie some where else like jetting or other adjusments. You say the non programable ones suck the 06+ so why would I want to get programable one they can even get the non programable one right.

I suppose once you get a bike all dialed in you may want to see if you can squezze a little more out but I dont think this is the case for this poster. He should go back to stock untill he can get his motor to run for more then one hour with out it blowing up.

How did the motor blow up any way?

Still haven't got the motor apart! been busy as hell! and i do belive imma go with the vortex v10!! after i fig out what happened to my motor lol the guy that builds all my motors said it sounds like the 3mm stroker crank messed up but hopefully ill know tommorow!!

The OEM cdi will work the best on most applications. The real advantage of the dyna is the extra rpms. Some cams dont make there best power until the upper RPMs and the OEM wont do it.

IMO the best CDI is PROGRAMABLE Dynatek. On my current build the stock setting worked the best after I increased the RPM setting. BUT designing custom curves is the way to go. It takes time to get the correct curves that work the best. I found that on the 3 curves I designed that a 13.1 piston liked a
certain curve compared the the 14.1. Also having had a dyno allowed me to make changes while still being strapped to the dyno. Give the settings a little tweak, do a couple runs and go from there.

more than likely gonna go with the vortex

Everyone that is complaining about aftermarket box's making your bikes run like crap. I would like to know what kind of fuel you are using. because if you are running more advanced timing with reg unleaded of course it wont run right.... it will explode before the piston reaches the TDC. A higher octane fuel has more resistance to burn which allows you to run more advanced timing.

hey guys sup? i got a Honda Trx 450r 2005 and i recently bought a big gun cdi box and when i installed my bike isn't starting. Could i get some advice on this ?
