the easiest way to change it is to have someone else change it. :thumbsup:

 

Bobby, I am no expert in jetting but if your bike is bone stock I would leave the jetting right where it is until you start adding mods. To answer your question, I find it easier to pull the carb to change the pilot, the main jet can be changed by dropping the bolt on the bottom of the float bowl.

Do a search on jetting and spend some time reading, I am sure it will clear up a lot of your questions.

Just a piece of advice from someone that "been there done that!"

 

I do not know about your jetting but the 450R is the easiest quad to rejet. when I did mine I just turned the carb to one side. But there is a white holder that goes around the main jet that can be a little pain when you put the float bowl back on. But way easier than ripping the whole carb out.

Pull the carb - I don't see how you can replace the pilot any other way....

the Main jet and Slow jet can be replaced in minutes by simply removing the bottom float bowl inspection nut...

HOWEVER, if you want to change the pilot jet, you will need to remove the carb.....if you want to change the pilot screw, you can remove the entire screw and replace that with carb in the bike....(not sure why you would want to)....

its only a 10min job to remove the carb....at best.... good luck

thats funny Murray.....once we start tinkering with our machines....we just cant stop.......your already offering to swap out cams again..... :11doh: cuzz once you have done it...the mystery is gone...and its actually a simple job....

as for me.....it takes me longer to remove the dang plastic than to work on my bike.....im about ready to swap out those 6mm bolts for some push pins.... :lol2:

Very cool Greg! So on the juice huh........I bet that beast really rips now! So, how much of a shot did you put in, or better yet how much of a shot can this bike/you handle??

I don't know about you but ever since I put that cam in the bike has really been kicking my a$$. Wore out after a couple of hours on the trails, used to be able to go all day! I guess that is a sign of age maybe......naaaaa. We are still allowed to have chit eat'n grin once in a while!
