wtf, never seen that before, i never took my pump apart enough to notice this. i just took the outer cover off and let everything else in. maybe i should check it tho, im going on 3 yrs now and i know some people have had pump covers in the past.

umm....I kinda responded to this in the Gasket blown thread above......

but, yes, that is a mechanical seal....and yes, it is damaged.....

you are SUPPOSE to replace this seal by removing the right side case.....knock out the oil seal first...then the mechanical seal (according to Honda this is the prescribed and ONLY method)....then tap in a new mechanical seal...then new oil seal.....

HOWEVER......if your a dumb azz Oakie like myself. and dont know no better.........there is a short cut that works just fine.......

instead of going to the trouble of removing the case.....knocking both seals out from the back side...... then replacing all the seals.....

simply use a screw driver (or in my case a special curved seal removing tool 'used to be a cotter pin remover'..lol)... and you can pull this seal out from the outside with no problems...... then simply tap in another seal....... its quite simple and fast......

but dont tell Honda.... we wouldnt want to do anything 'simple and fast'....lol

and of course.....this is just my oakie way of doing things....... no warranty expressed or implied using the above method...

jmho...me~

So i recently Bought a new MX Offroad Supercooler Kit Spectra

So i had issue when getting the stock impeller off. So in the process i must have screwed up the Mechanical seal. Cause when i installed everything back up and poured new coolant it started to come out the bottom

:sweatingbullets:
So i am debating on whether to install it myself or not.

I was looking at this thread and it looks pretty self explanatory. Still not sure. If i take it to a shop almost completely disassembled, how much do you think it will be.
