valves sinking

so i was thinking about this the other day and i thought i would ask on here, casue there are many more knowledgable people than myself on here....

i noticed that my valve clearance gets tighter, so that is saying basically the valves are sinking into the head, but the question i was wondering is that do the valves wear or is it the seat that is disappearing?

my guess is that it is the valve itself because it seems like that is the fix, to replace the valves. im running good old OEM cause thats what TC recommended, but if i got with a good set of KW or ferrea, will this slow the sinking?

also will leaded fuel help? because it is a lubricant...

when i replace the valves, is there a way i can get a seal in my garage or do i have to take it somewhere and get the valve job if only the valve wore?

sorry there are so many questions...

not always the valve sinking into the head but it could be the valve stretching that tightens up the clearance. Its both the seat getting eatin away and the valve face that deteriorate. But with a name like bouncingoftherevlimiter it could be both lol, the limiter is not very valve friendly.

so ive heard.... haha! i do have a problem with the whole limiter thing, i have a vortex too, and that dosent help the situation any!

suprisingly i have about 3 years on this motor and the valves only needed ajusted once. when i tore it down when the big end rod bearing went it was still in spec

Ferrea or Kibblewhite valves will help, they are made of a better grade of SS.....but a good set of A/M springs will help too, I prefer the ATP but the Kibblewhites will work also, you will need a valve job also, or any time you get new valves.. Did TC give you A/M springs? With a vortex, that is a must
3 yrs puts alot of wear on the head. at this point i would send the head out to get evaluated and see whats the best thing to do. maybe +1 size valves new seats angled cut, etc...

softer valves wear faster, stronger ones wear the seats.

i also need some help in the valve area. its an 05 on stock stuff. i dont race but a freshening up would sure help this ol'duner runn better.

TC knew i was running the vortex and said the stock springs were good, i have 3 years of HARD abuse, and no problems with the valve train at all!

im just looking to get this motor back together and running for now, i have a nice stock head i have that i have something special planned for this winter...

what if i just have a quick valve job done and good stockers? i only had to reshim once in 3 years, and its still in spec right now. it ran excellent till the crank gave up the ghost.

thanks

Aftermarket SS valves will help with durability.

FYI, the lead in leaded fuel is not a lubricant, but more of a shock absorber for the valves. So, yes leaded fuel will help in the wear department, also.
what cam are you running.. the steeper lobes on more aggressive cams make the valve slam closed that would put more pressure as well. I would also look at it that it lasted for 3 years.. that seems pretty dang good to me.
Early HRC, I had it and didn't want to pay the 200+ for the TC and I liked the HRC...

Made good power, I was fairly happy with it, and apparently it liked it, I checked my valves about once every 6 mos, and like I said only adjusted them once in 3 years...

once in three yrs? i know for a fact mine took way more adjustments than that.

yup, i swear it was only once! the thing is, the first year i rode it alot, then the 2nd hardly ever, and this year i did more than the last, but still not a ton.. so maybe that is it.

the first year, when i had the head done, i rode the crap out of it. it was pretty much daily. it slowed alot cause my friends all sold theirs so i dont ride nearly as often. also i moved, and became a teacher, and that consumed alot of my time, so the riding didnt happen much.
