Will the CRF450R cam fit in the TRX450R? If not what do I have to do to make it work?

Yes the CRF cam will fit, but I hear it is not worth it. Lukester has it installed in his 450r.
Rico the cam will fit without having to change out the shims but like I said in my email to you it is not worth the money. Thanks for the info on the elkas BTW.
:D Thanks for the info, it's greatly appreciated! My 450R is in the shop getting a 39 FCR carb and Pro Circiut Titanium slip-on and I'm going to put a 2 stage hotcam in it instead. Once again, Thanks! Honda! Forever!
Rico please let us know how that beast runs when you get it back!!!
tom morgan racing has a cam out it is $250and adds 1hp from 4000-11000RPM
Fast, What is the cam made of? Is it the same material as the other parts in the engine. I would like to know! One reason and mainly the only reason I pick hotcam is that the hotcam is made out of the same material as the motor. In another words, that means I do not have to harden the rockers $250 or worry about springs etc.. With the hotcam being the same material I don't have to do anything, just put it in and ride. Let me know!
i think he just regrins the stock cam if you are looking i can find out
but that is a good point thow i guess we found a problam with the uni cam motor
if we all got yfz's we would not need to hard face the rochers because their is no rockers to hard face

What exactly are the shims? that is what the dealer is waiting to get in to put on my 450r, so i cant get it back till he gets the shims.

They're little watch battery looking things that sit in the little buckets at the top of your valve springs. You have to swap them out to get the right valve clearence. With some cams you don't have to do this.
Harden the rockers?

Who fed you this line? The TRX450R does not have rockers.

Well, actually it does have an exhaust rocker setup - but it's on a roller, so the material doesn't matter.

One thing to keep in mind about the hotcams is they do not use the factory decompression setup -- prepare for a different kickstarting experience.

As far as the CRF cam -- keep in mind that the TRX and CRF cylinder heads have very different flow characteristics - it's very possible that installing a CRF cam could actually lose you HP.

Holy crap, are you saying that the hot cams doesn't alow you to use the decompression setup???? That is insane!!! that bike would suck to start. I just put a sparks cam in, i hope it uses the decompression setup! I mean from what i could tell, it looks like it does. Anyone know if it does?
From what I understand, that is correct - hotcams = no decompressor setup.

Don't know on the Sparks - did it have the decompression hardware or was it a bare cam?
The sparks cam looks quite similar to the stock cam, just with different size lobes, it cam installed with a bearing. The decompression hardware all seemed to work just fine with the sparks cam. I tested it out by giving it a quick kick.
My sparks cam is being installed now. He told me it works with the stock decompression hardware. If it didn't I wouldn't of purchased it.
I just put the 2 stage hotcam in and it used all the hardware from the stock cam including the decompressor setup!
Boy does this thing thump!!!!

how is the bottem end affected with the stage 2 cam? I dont want to lose any bottom end. I wish i could gain a bit, but maybe thats where an exhaust will come into play.
The 2 stage cam is for mid range and top end, but I also bought a slip-on pipe and a FCR 39mm carb that gave me tons of low end!
