TRX 450R - Kill Switch - ????

I need to know if anyone has wired a Pro Design Kill Switch to their new TRX 450R yet. If so, I would appreciate if you could give me a description on how to properly wire the Kill Switch without jeopardizing any of the electronics - etc. If anyone knows of a Dealership, or aftermarket supplier that has the knowledge to do this task, drop a name or website for contact information.

Thanks, and any information would be greatly appreciated.

For anyone interested, I found out from Mark Baldwin how to properly wire a kill switch to the 450R. Follow instructions listed below:

1) Trace the wires form the stop switch (mounted on handle bars) to the white connector mounted to the left hand side of frame.

Note: The wires from the stop switch splits off (2) directions, (1) set to the head light assembly, and the other to the (white plastic connector).

2) Look for the black wire with the white tracer.

3) Splice, connect, or solder (1) wire from the kill switch to the black wire (w/ the white tracer) on the stop switch side of the connector.

4) Then ground the other wire from the kill switch to the frame.

That's all, your finished.

Hope this helps, any questions just send a reply to this post.

I used these instructions to install one on mine. Worked great.
If you want to get rid of the key switch. You hook one wire from the kill switch to the black wire with the white stripe. Hook the other wire from the kill switch to the green wire. Then splice the remaining 2 wires ( red & black ) together. If you don't splice those two wires together the fan and the lights won't work.
Maybe ill print that out and keep on me, haha then if my friends want an R, i can tell them i can sell them one haha JK
Has anyone put an electric start on their 450 yet.The 06 models come with it.Any info would be great.
woah, talk about bringing something out of the grave :p .

The e-start is only available on the 2006 model, and its $200 cheaper or something. If you don't get the e-start model, i don't think you can 'upgrade' any other model, especially not any model previous to '06.

does that mean if you take the key switch out the fan won't run?
tim,
in your instructions, step 3, does it mean to cut the black/white wire as it goes into the white connector from the stop switch? then butt splice your kill switch wire to black/white wire from the stop switch? if so, does this eliminate the function of the stop switch? that's not a big deal just curious.
thanks for any info.
You should just be splicing your killswitch wire into the stock black/white wire. I am having a hard time thinking of a good way to word this but you keep the black / white wire connected and just add the killswitch wire in line somewhere. If you do it this way the killswitch will work and the stop switch will also still function.
here is a pic from my website, hopefully it will help. You will see I just added the green wire inline to the stock black/white wire.

I BAUGHT THE KIT TO INSTALL THE PRO ARMOR KILL SWITCH. IT COMES WITH 2 PLUGS AND A WIRE TO GROUND IT WITH. I WAS WANTING TO KNOW WHICH WIRE I WOULD BE AND WHERE I CAN FIND IT. I NO THE KIT SOUNDS DUMB BUT I DIDNT WANT TO CUTTIN ON MY WIRES BC I KNOW I WOULD CUT THE WRONG ONE. JUST WANNA GET A JUMP ON IT SO WHEN IT COMES I CAN HURRY AND GET IT DONE. SO ANY HELP WOULD BE APREACIATED. THANKS

Well I just installed my Pro armor in place of the stop switch- and finally eliminated that fugly blob. Lets just say because I was too lazy to get my Voltmeter it was a shocking experience...lmfao...

Shoulda made a how-to but I was in a hurry.

I took the green wire and hooked it to one side of the kill and the black- with white on the other side and was done.

To get rid of the light selector I jumped the hi/low beams together and the on/off selector to the lights together, soldered and heat shrinked them.
Now my question is has anyone else done this? I cant imagine it is going to harm anything but would just like more input from others.
so your lights are on all the time?....I jumped them together like that and wired them to a 3 throw toggle switch. Middle is off, down is low and up is high...
Not a bad idea, but I dont mind if they are on all the time. If I get the chance I may use one of those switches too, sounds like a good idea.
I've just unpluged my Handlebar switch and my headlights and removed them and cut off the keyswitch gonna wire my killswitch into those wires. Haven't got it back together yet . I was wondering if it will work right? Will the fan still run? Somebody mentioned that before.

if I carry out this mods will I be able to remove the keyswitch and the switchgear on the left of the handlebars?
