Hey guys new on here but not new to 450rs. Anysways I bought a fixer upper 2004 450r and the first time riding it, it was getting extremely hot so I decided to pull the carb apart and check out the jets anyways it had a 118 main (stock) in it. Air box lid was on but has a full white brothers exhaust. I ditched the lid and stuck a 178 main in it, has hrc needle on the third clip and a 48 pilot jet In it. Now it won’t open up past 1/4 throttle and just pops and cracks. Tried the fuel Screw from 1 turn out up to 3 1/2 and no change. Any ideas? Is my main too big?

WAY to rich.

If you are keeping the airbox lid on then you need to go to tops a 150 main at best. Remove the lid and you should be at 180-185 main, stock pilot, 3rd needle clip and 2.5 turns out air/fuel screw

its also EXTREMELY important you use keihin type hex shaped jets, any other type arent measured the same way so a 118 dynojet could really be equivalent to a 130 keihin main jet
