Made a little mod to my R last night. Cut the factory harness and spliced in a mini led taillight that I bought at a trucker supply store. Drilled two holes in the toolbox compartment of the rear plastics and mounted it up.

Heres a pic...

I copied NorCal....then I cut my toolbox out! Nice to see new ideas though.

Its a combination brake/tail just like the factory one. I didnt want to add any brackets and I wanted a smaller light. Something that looked different than the big factory taillight. Norcal's does look clean tho.

I liked this one cause its small slim and fits nicely in that little pocket.

Pretty cool man. I bet it doesn't get bashed as easy when some one runs into the back of you. or get destroyed when you rip off the grab bar.

Ya wiring on it was super easy. I cut out the plug for the stock light and crimped on some connectors. Cut the wires on the taillight and crimped on some connectors and plugged them together. Longest time was taken figuring out which wires connected where to make the light function as stock. Now I have off on and brake just like the stock light. Taillight cost me 15 bucks.

can i get some pics of how its wired up, i'm dumb with wiring, but i'd like to do something like this.[/b]

The easiest way to figure it out is to turn on the lights (bike running on the kicker). There are 6 wires total between the bike and the light. One wire on each is a ground, should be the brown one on the bike and black one on the light. Tie those together. Next take one of the green wires from the bike and touch it to one of the wires 2 wire left on the light. If the light doesn't come on try the other green wire from the bike. The wire you get juice from (on the bike) will be your running light. Connect that wire to the wire on the brake light that is "dim" on the bake light. Then connect the last 2 wires and hit your brake to make sure the brake light comes on.

Does any of that make sense?

I've wired a million flush mount blinkers on sport bikes and a bunch of "euro" tails too. One wire is a ground, one is a constant and one only comes on when the brake light switch is triggered. It seems tricky but once you do it it's not that bad. The pain in the ass ones are the integrated brake/blinker lights on sport bikes with resistors and crossing wires... Those suck.
