Swing Arm Bolt, Again!

So I posted here a while back about my swing arm bolt being stuck and received a lot of advice, but unfortunately, nothing has worked. Problem was I had already whacked it a few times without knowing it was hollow. Why the $%#@ would Honda put in a hollow bolt. Is that really a place you want to save weight? Anyway, because of the flared end I cannot get the nut back on to hit it out. I tried Gunk and heating it up. This is an 04', and I don't think it was ever maintenanced before I bought it. I have a sawz-all with metal blades and I am thinking of cutting out the two parts of the bolt that are seized to those bushings. Anybody actually have to cut this thing out or should I take it to a Honda dealer. I really don't want to have to pay the ridiculous amount of $ they are going to charge to get this out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

if you can post a picture of the damage and bolt we will try to come up with a solution. and no more :no_bashing: with out leaving the factory nut on the end to hit...

I don't know how hard it maybe to cut but it seems if you can't get the nut back on, you will need a new bolt anyways. So cut away, then get a new stainless steel bolt and new pivot spacers.

I believe the hollow bolt is to dissipate heat?
You could research the topic its came up a few times. Since its already effed I'd just go ahead, cut it out and get a new SS bolt.
The bolt is hollow because it is stronger then a solid steel bolt would be in this configuration.
Think about it how many roll cages are made from solid steel, or chrome moly? Not very many.
So I bought a bunch of new metal blades for my sawz-all, and they didn't even begin to cut the spacers on the bolt. It is hardened steel obviously. I am not sure what other option I have at this point other then taking it up to a shop somewhere and having them cut out the bolt with a plasma cutter or something. I am not worried about damage to the swing arm, as I think I am just going to sell it for scrap, but I do not want the engine damaged.

Anyone ever have to have one of these cut out before? Any tips would be great. Thanks
Just cut the end of the bolt off that you flared out and then use an oxy acetaline torch to heat up the spacers. That should free them up, but be careful not to burn your brake line or catch it on fire.
I had the cut mine out the other day with the torch. Just do it quick and its very easy, just fell out after that.

i have used a sawz all and didnt work out i have used a plasma cutter works best and a torch if all you have is a torch it dont hurt to have a bucket of water and a junk t shirt or rag and maybe a extra set of hands and keep the super wet rag on the engine while you cut just to help it from geting hott and it shouldnt be to bad atleast you can get engine out and start geting peices out of the swing arm or block
