what is the best was to chemically strip powdercoat? i have a bumper that is powercoated and i want to take it back to the factory brushed aluminum look.

ouch! a little pricey! what about burning it off or something.. i just want the gold to disappear. i tried murtic acid and it didnt do crap! just cleaned my garage floor...

use some paintstripper. i did on my bumper and swingarm.

get some aircraft paint stripper. work awesome,strong stuff keep it off your hands, ill look for some pix.

and heres the swingarm, i use the aircraft stripper on this one. its obvious this one worked better.

and for kicks, the bottom picture is the parts fresh out of powdercoating.[/b]

use that stuff in a well ventilated area and dont get it on your skin. my freakin arm was itchy asshell till i figured out it wasnt an itch, it was burning from the stripper. LOL

Hey sandshots, that turned out great! I like the mod to the bumper. I did the same thing.

what will the aircraft stripper do the the bare aluminum though?

i dont want to dull that too much, im not much into polishing....

i guess it cant be too bad, the aircrafts (aircraft stripper) were aluminum werent they?

all its gonna do is peel the paint.
