Sprocket sizes?

I am going to buy new sprockets and chain what size sprockets should I go with. I have an 05 450r with cam and full exhaust and do alot of dessert, trail, and dune riding. Any help would be appreciated.

That's something you need to find out for yourself. Steel sprockets are cheap. Pick up a couple and see what you like best. It's always nice to have a few different sizes for different types of riding and different tires.
for general dunning i've liked the 13/39 on both my 05 and 06 bikes.
13/39 is a good choice for general riding, actually just ddropping to the 13 helps a lot,

now I think the 13 is hurting my bike for speed so im going back to a 14
cool, appreciate the help.
try 14/39, little shorter gears, see if you like it. Going 14/39 will be the lesat noticeable gearing change- Darius
a 14/41 is fun if you have the engine to pull it...

That would be the same gearing as just dropping to a 13 front and leaving the 38 in the rear. I've been running 13/41 for a year now but now that I've got a little more HP, I'm going to try 13/39 and see how it feels.

if it was the same the mph would be the same as well on the radar but it is not... i wonder why that is?
it might be same top MPH but maybe one gearing helps with acceleration better?

might be way off base here

that exactly what i feel... better acceleration in third gear up old hill and banshee hill at dumont.

Gear ratio is gear ratio. Top speed would be the same. On the hill though, maybe the larger rear sprocket is easier to turn because of leverage? I've wondered about that for a while now. I thought about trying 14/42 but never have done it.
youd think that if u could keep the sprockets small that it would help alot with acceleration less size to turn, like 12/35 vs 14/41 and the speed is almost identical at them 2 ratios

Obviously, it's simple physics and easy to see how turning a smaller front sprocket would be easier. But the opposite is true for the rear sprocket. A larger rear sprocket is just like using a longer handle tool for more power/leverage. It's easier for the engine to turn the rear axle using a larger sprocket. What would be really cool to see is 300' times with the same gear ratio but different size sprockets.
What is the stock size for the 08? I have no flipin idea what sprockets I got on it. They are stock and I have heard 13 and 14 floating around back and forth.

So what is the correct stock sprocket sizes?

13/38
Yup, just figured it out yesterday. And I also found out a 15 tooth is too big cause it rubs on the shift lever and I cant put the case saver on. But MAN does it have some speed with that 15 tooth!
Will I need a longer chain to fit a 39 tooth rear sprocket on my stock 08?

Put my 39 on today and it fits fine with the stock chain. Getting close to the buffer on the PRM skidplate though. A 40 might be too big.

Made a great difference in being able to creep around.
