I just rec'd my rear GT Thunder revalve/linkage setup and wanted to adjust my SAG, but I also see posts with ride height settings for 6.5" to 8" for MX use.

I am a little confused and could use some direction...

Here are the measurements I came up with

18.5" distance from top of axle to deisgnated spotwith wheels off the ground

12 3/4" distance with me on the atv and the wheels on the ground

so that is a 5 3/4" difference ...I need to make the sag setting to about 15 3/16"?????

Shock travel is 9.3" (STOCK) Does the GT linkage add travel to this?

According to what i have read I need to adjust my sag height until it is 30% of the suspension travel...Is that the 9.3" or the 30% of the 18 1/2" that is measurement with the quad's wheels off the ground??

Am I on the right track??

I have adjusted the top nut down towards the spring just about all the way down, but the sag is still at about 5-1/2"

and stock shock travel is 9.3" which should give a sag setting of 3.1"

Should I be setting it at 30% of the measurement between the axle and the frame mark or 30% of the 9.3" of stock shock travel

Has the GT revalve added more travel.....I believe it does on the fronts??

HELP

I run the GT Thunder set-up on my quad. I am at 7-3/8" on the ride height.

The first thing you will want to do is stand on the footpegs and have a friend look at your front shocks. You will want 1/4" - 3/8" of a gap between the cross-over (top of the aluminum holder that your top spring sits on and the bottum of your preload adjusting nut).....If you are not within this range your shocks will not perform they way that they should. If you need to adjust the preload out of this rang to get the ride height you are looking for , contact Laz and he will send you some shims to get you back to 1/4"=3/8" cross-over.

After you get this within range, measure the distance from a flat surface to the bottum of your frame (in the front frame section, before the frame changes to the upword angle where the a-arms are attached). Then measure the distance to the bottum of your frame right in front of your foot pegs. You will want these measurements to be the same or the frontend up a little, probally no more then a 1/4"

I hope that you can make some sense out of this. It's not so hard , but its hard to explain

THis will effect the rear sag?

My front shocks are being revavled by GT right, so I only have the backs to adjust right now.

I sent in a spare set of front so I still have front shocks on the bike.

How is ride height and sag related?

Sorry for the questions...I just don't get it

I think that the spring may just be too short or the wrong weight type??

Hopefully Laz will contact me soon

i have the gtthunder revalve and xc link as well. the link will add addt'l travel in the rear, laz said it would be around 10.5. i just set my rear up to get 7" from the floor to bottom of the frame at the foot pegs with me on the bike. this required 6 turns added to the preload. seemed like a lot but laz said that wouldn't be a problem adding that much preload.

the fronts worked as is with the custom dual spring he adds to them. he has it set up with all the preload out of them. the bike sits 7.5" off the ground between the floor and frame at the rear control arm mount.

you'll def have to play with the comp and reb. he sets them up WAY softer than stock. i run 1/4 turn out on the comp up front and 8 clicks out in the back.

i was casing every jump i took with the new susp and couldn't figure out why. called laz again and he asked me what tire pressures i was running. told him 3.5 front and back. he said pump them up to 6.5 and see what happens. oh well, who knew? :11doh: every day i'm learning something new with these bikes.

all in all, one of the best investments imo. :D good luck.
