Saw at a few gas stations last night regular was 4.65/gal. The friggin storm had not even hit yet. WTF? How can they do that with gas that's already in their tanks?

MSNBC reported on thursday night that the wholesale price of gas was at 4.11 i think. Thats the price that the stations get it for before they add their markups. I'm not saying they're justified unless they recieved their shipment in between then and now. All 3 gas stations in my small town were PACKED thursday night trying to get gas before it went up. And sure enough the next morning it was at 3.99 and 2 of them and 4.14 at one. Its crazy how they take advantage of bad situations.

Gas over here is 3.67 as of last night. wnet down a lot! Buts its bound to go back up.
im screwed because my little dumbass town went out and was lined up and bought all the gas, and now i cant get any
what rick said. the three big gas stations here in belfry are all sold out of gas. there are more gas stations but i dont know if any of them are out also. i barely got in to fill my bike up last night
But it was $3.53 at noon. By 7:30 it was $4 friggin 65!!
it goes up because they have to shut down the oil rigs/platforms in the gulf every time a storm comes through, dont know the percentage of the oil they supply but i know its alot! not forgeting the rigs that get damaged and cant do anything for months untill they get fixed.

gas still aint to bad down here hehe we're still in a nationaly decalred state of emergency or somthing so all the prices are supposed to freeze,
dont take my word for it but im pretty sure thats how it works cause i havent seen gas for over 3.60
I understand that it's gonna go up, a big percentage of our refining capacity is in that region. (because everybody want's cheap gas but nobody want's a refinery in their town) But my point is that the stations are gouging people. They are selling the same gas for 4.65 that they were selling for 3.53 a few hours earlier for a huge profit.
yep bunch of crap. There was 1 station in our town that went to $4.99 last night. Everyone else was still $3.80. All the gas stations around town had lines down the road. Today most were around $4.15. That place should get fined...

Only problem with fining them is that it is only like $10,000. Back when everyone was price gouging what do you think they made in a day...more than the fine.
I know what you mean. My sis called me while I was at my gf's house (a good half hour away from kalamazoo) and said gas was 5.89 at a few places around there and I got lucky and got it for 3.87. Now mostly it's from 4.09-4.19 a gallon....

Supposedly there has been enough complaints about this that the state is doing investigations to see went on and why. So I guess we'll see what happens....
When 9-11 happened there was a locally owned chain of stations around here that went to $7 a gallon. The state made them refund anyone with a receipt. They did and a few months later went T.U.

That sent a message to stations around here to watch their prices. But thanks for the heads up! When you first posted this thread I went out and filled up my tank at 3.56, now it's at $4.01. Thanks for saving me some green!
So far, here in AZ the price hasn't changed. We're still around 3.47-3.52

thats cheaper than here.

all the dealerships and corner lots are full of trucks and suv's that arent selling due to fuel cost.
Get a hold of the state attny gen ofc and file a complaint if you think that the price is high...
