Part suggestions for a Noob(to the forum)
hello everyone, i'm new here. last year i bought an 07 450R... due to college i had quit riding for a few years... i used to have a 300EX with a boatload of mods but i outgrew it and went with a used Banshee... horrid mistake so i sold it and didn't ride on the dirt for a few years
last year got the itchin again so i bought the 450r... I love it, sweetest thing i've ridden on dirt
however, it is a track bike and i do a lot of mixed riding...
to make a long story short, i want to get a little more out of the bottom end as well as just improving the power overall... I intend on doing some gearing adjustments as well as jetting and purchasing a new exhaust system
what system would everyone reccomend me to? i had an FMF on my 300 and loved it but that was years ago...
also, what other suggestions would you offer to me in terms of mods?

ur good man. this is where alot of ppl introduce themselves...just alot of ppl are at work so dont have time to respong to ya...definately get an exhaust setup, a nice filter, k&n or uni, and a good jetting setup(depends on what pipe and filter u run) depending how far u want to get into it, u can get a nice stage 1 cam, i believe that helps produce bottom end, or u can go with a big bore kit...just depends how much money u want to spend. theres alot of guys on here that will probably be able to help you a little more on this. welcome to the site!!!
awesome, thanks man... its been 10 years since i had my 300 but i put a white bros bore kit and i think i changed the cam... i'll probably look into something like that in the future but i'm trying to be pretty simple right now.. anyways i'm excited to be on here, hopefully this place will give me the ideas and motivation i need to get to work on that sucker
get a hotcams stg 2, or a 2002 crf450r cam
get a good airfilter, K&N or uni, no toil
and for a exhaust
either Rage, Venom, Dasa, ESR, Rossier all of those are great exhaust!!
also the Sparks, HMF, and Nmotion are all good exhaust
but i like the first 2 i mentioned the best

if money is any object you really can't beat the hrc kit for the 06-07 bikes. around $300 dollars gets you a new cam that has a strong low to mid range, bigger head pipe, jetting kit with needle and a breather T, pull off the air box lid and the pea shooter baffle and you have a pretty strong running bike for a very good price

there a good exhaust as well!, u wouldnt be able to tell any seat of the pants difference between any of the exhausts mentioned, dyno might show a little different , and i agree the HRC kit is a great starting point on the 06up bikes, its night and day over the stock stuff

look in the classifieds there's so many good parts in there for cheap from exhaust to cams to big bore kits. with an exhaust and cam and filter she'll be a whole new beast.

how do they all fair (exhausts) in terms of sound? I understand that most aftermarket exhausts on a bike like that are going to be loud, but i dont want to be obnoxiously loud
i'm getting excited and have really gotten a renewed interest in riding, i cant wait to put some money and time into it

oh wow, i just realized there was a whole part of the board i never saw, i guess i could have posted thi elsewhere, lol
well i'm really struggling here, i'm prepared to go spend money but i'm still not sure what on... i plan on getting the Hot Cams Stage 2, uni or KN filter and full exhaust system(looking at Rossier and Venom) but i'm not sure what else needs to be done with these mods... Jetting? etc.

well just an update if anyone cares... last night i ordered the Hotcams Stage II and the HMF Sport Series Full Exhaust(Black)
Gonna order a filter today...
are there any good aftermarket lids or is the best bet just to leave the airbox off completely... i'd like to leave some protection if possible

good pic hmf's sound awesome, just leave the lid of and get an outerwear, theres acutally 2 in the for sale section for 10 a piece shipped.
