I was just wanting to see how everyone lower their 450r's for flat dragging. I used to use tie downs on the 400ex but I want to hear what everyone else does. I will most likely race tonight.

last time I as at the drags, by friend was running 9.6's and 9.7's. he went again the other day, but this time tied the front end down with tie downs, and he ran a 8.4 :D ....pretty good.

I run a set of PEP ZPS shocks on the front from my 400EX. On the rear I used the stock rear shock and mixed and matched some parts from one of my 400EX ZPS setups to get the ride height where it needed to be.

I can do full power launches without any worry about the "light" front end lifting.

Best time so far on a dirt 300' strip is 6.001 (RT included). Best speed is around 52mph. That time is with strictly a HRC setup.

I'm hoping to break into the fives soon with jetting and TPS adjustments on my FCR. We'll see. If not, a pipe and a 12:1 piston are next on the list.

I find that very hard to believe....I have never seen any 450r run times even close to that...did you put Nitros on it or something? Do you have any time slips you can show?

my best times on concrete is 9.4...and that was at 67mph...how are you only getting 52...something dont smell right.

What distance are you running lude? That's seem like a long time for 300 ft. Mabey its because you can't take off as fast on pavement for fear of flipping it.

Lude - you are running 1/8 mile with those times and speeds.

Timeslips?

Look here for bike 199 - this was my latest run
http://www.silverlakeraceway.com/Silverlak...3&Submit=Submit

In the one below, I missed a shift but still pulled off a good ET (total time was not so good - which seems to be reflected in the RT ---- strange results that night)
http://www.silverlakeraceway.com/Silverlak...3&Submit=Submit

This one is my best run so far, unfortunately they did manual scoring that night so only total time shows -- no detail breakdown

And - here's a run from my Cannondale and my 400EX - both from 2002 (this is a paved 1/4 mile strip)
http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/images/tmp/416vs432.htm
(ignore the 1/4 mile speeds - their final speed traps were hosed up that night)

Look at these sick puppies! they are running 300ex shocks up front, and a customized stock linkage in the rear. for the rear they had a guy weld some extra lenth to it. I will make a drag race post in the pics section with more pics and info :D

damn, thats awsome. Is there really that big of difference between racing on dirt vs concrete. wow.

Yes Luke take offs were a biaaatch....I would ride a wheelie have way down that track...and you cant really get into it until the wheels are back down....we dont have any dirt drag strips around here, I wish we did...

Thanks for your reply ATC! :D

A lot of these guys, like these guys on the R's hold the throttle WFO and basiclly dump the clutch on the takeoff. Its really awesome. There also a lot of guys running wheelie bars this year, you should see some off these launches they get.

Lude - 1/8 mile is 660 feet. We're running 300' dirt drags.
thanks man that clears up alot....now it makes perfect since....Gee do I feel stupid  ....I never said I knew how many feet there were.... ..

I was just looking at some of my time slips and there is a field on there for the 300 ft mark, and my best time at 300 ft was 5.8...So I guess it all adds up now.....so is that a good time for concrete...It doesnt seem much different from the dirt times,,,maybe even a little better, cause I bet your quads are faster then mine....

well I raced the other night and my setup worked flawlessly. The track was standard hardpack and I was running 3 pounds of air in my claws and it hooked up great. I was leaving the line at about 2/3 to 3/4 throttle without even lifting the front tires. BTW a 450r won the unlimited class that night too! It had to beat out some sweet quads.

I actually forgot my camera this time, but I will post some pics of mine lowered sometime this week.

In the drag racing thread I made last time there was a pic of 3 r's the 2 on the ends are the ones to beat, they are very fast. The one in the middle is stock and has won the 4 stroke stock class I think every time its been entered this year, that's pretty impressive since the yfz is supposed to be faster stock! Lol

I took the kendas to about 3.5 psi which hopefully will hook up good on some damp, hardpack dirt.
