long fuel filter bolt stripped?

well i let my bro use my quad once but told him to change the oil and well make a long story short the long fuel filter bolt is stripped the first couple threads so whats a fix for it?[/b]

sorry about that have to edit meant my oil filter! doh....

try a longer bolt, with more threads...don't know if it will work but worth a try

is the bolt out? if so just buy a new bolt

its not the bolt its the threads inside, i guess i could try a longer bolt i just didnt know how far it goes in.

i have fixed several like that! all of the ones we repaired were stripped in the case, we just chased it with a larger tap and bought the appropriate bolt.

you wouldn't remember what the size was to further my ease of convenince? would i beable to just try a bigger bolt or should i tap it? i was also a little worried about shavings going in somewhere or doesn't the bolt hole go into the engine? thanks alot!

How many threads striped? If its only the first couple, than you can chase them with a tap(6mm x 1mm I think). If not you can drill out the thread and retap it with a bigger bolt or install a thread insert.
