To anyone with the HRC kit installed. Do you have a problem bogging out in low rpm range? I was at the Oregon dunes last week and raced a few times. Everytime off the line, it would bog a little and then start screaming. I was getting bet off the line by a stock 450R(even though he was running a 12th front). Do you think if I uped the pilot it would get rid of this problem or messing with the clip on the needle. Thanks

Turn you air fuel screw out about a half turn and see if that works. If not turn it a little more.

I tried it half a turn all ready. I will have to try a little more in a few weeks. I just had knee surgery, from lifting weights, on Tuesday. Still relly sore and won't be able to ride (SUCKS).

What did you do with jetting? What pipe are you running? Airbox mods?

Are you rolling the throttle on and having problems or is it only when you launch from a start?

My first thought is jetting. Big bogs usually mean a lean condition. Sputtering usually is rich. Can you be more specific?

I just bought an 05 and installed the hrc kit. I am haveing the same problem launching,
it wants to bog. I have 185 mj, needle 3rd clip. It screams in mid to high range rpms, but seems like it falls on it face if you give it all the throttle at once. I have the pilot adjustment screw 2 1/2 turns out. If I roll on the throttle it seem ok. Crap I wish I could line this beast out.. What is the correct way to adj the pilot screw?

A 13 tooth is NOT going to fix a fuel problem <_<

I heard that the hrc kit (cam) is a mid to top end cam because mine does that to but once u get it above lets say 3,000 rpm it starts to scream.

A "bog" is fuel problem and not caused by the camshaft, True the HRC can is a mid-top cam but that doesnt mean it bogs in bottom end.

Get a pipe, it will stop.

Putting a bigger exhaust on it will only make the problem worse (leaner condition).

Turning the screw out (ccw) will richen it and turning it in (cw) will lean it.

I am not trying to be a smarta$$ here its just that most of you guys are giving him false info. Sprockets and Exhaust systems will not help his problem. I hope this helps.

It is true that the HRC is a top end cam. But, also the sand will suck your power alot. I had the 13t with the hotcam stage 2 which is a mid range cam and still it felt doggy. You need to have the proper gearing for the sand. If you had a 12 or 13t in front and aleast a 40t in the back. Your quad will srceam in the sand.
When it comes to sand,,,, gearing is the name of the game. You could have some type of fuel problem, but guaranty. If you do the gearing with the fuel mix right!! That 450R will pull hard!! :D
