The wire going to the thermo unit needs to be grounded, either directly or through a switch. However, I don’t recommend it and if your quad is overheating you have other problems that need to be addressed.

There’s a way to do it where you can have the switch, and keep it hooked up to thermostat, so itll turn on automatically if motor gets to hot.
I haven’t done it yet, but plan to.
If I remember correctly. You can splice a wire to the green wire coming out of the fan. Hook that up to a toggle switch, then run a wire from other side of switch to a ground. (Bolt on the frame)
And Wala, you can turn it on & off whenever (ignition needs to be on) . Or you can leave it off and fan will kick on when motor gets to 230 degrees i believe.
Which is way to hot in my opinion. Now if we can get a thermostat that will kick on when motor is at say 200 degrees? That’ll be something. If someone knows how or where to get one please let me know. Then i dont have to put a switch to fan.

I did the same thing but I wired a plug into the wire I ground to the frame so I just unplug it if I ever want it off. Haven’t needed it off yet always keep the fan running to make sure the motor is running cool.
