if you've never worked on one i would have someone there who has to watch over you! it would be a great learning experience, and yes you will more than likely have to reshim with a different cam. and use the cams specs not stock!
if you've never worked on one i would have someone there who has to watch over you! it would be a great learning experience, and yes you will more than likely have to reshim with a different cam. and use the cams specs not stock!I have a sparks cam and i was wondering how hard installation will be? will I need to re-shim?[/b]
thats what i was thinking. its a fourstroke it don't matter what cam you have in there it will have plenty of bottom end.no bottom end???????
watch out, sounds like your mechanic is a little kookoo
anyways I hope you get it worke out..[/b]
yup, just take your time on it and you can definately do it on your own. look at the rockinhorse website, there instructions are very usefull.Yeah, Its hard to find a good trustworthy mechanic in my area without going to a dealer and it costs an arm and leg there to get anything done, I think my best option is just to start workin on it myself.[/b]
If your cam is out, you better make sure your shims are still in place. They will not stay in place by themselves if your shipping the thing around.lol...ok heres my scenario...my valves bottomed out...ruined my head..
so i bought a new head that was in great shape and along with the head i bought a sparks mx cam,
which since it is a mx cam i was expectin to be nuthin but tourque...but i took it to my mechanic and he calls me up and say...everything is together and workin great...but i took that cam you brought me back out...it was lackin bottom end really bad, he told me he would put it back in if i wanted him to....but the guy is about 2 hours away and my 450 has been down for 4-5 months and im to anxious to ride to wait any longer..
so im just gonna go pick it up and put the cam in myself...he already adjusted the valves and all that stuff.[/b]
i would pick up the bike and ride it and judge it for my self. it might be great for your style and how you ride. jmoJust changed mine, and used the directions on the website, I had it donr in about an hour or so[/b]
