Take a look at my piston its a 13.5:1 hi compression baldwin or prox. It got beat up from the thrust washers and bearings comming from the lower end of the rod when they exploded. Im short on money and dont want to spend money on something I dont need to replace. I had to upload them to my myspace page heres the link

i would but i cant view the pics[/b]

Here is a new link to view the pics of the piston.

My new pics of the piston
i wouldnt theres some scoring on the skirts that u can see transfer right into the rings.
how does your cylinder look?

The cylinder is clean. I had a shop take a look at it and they said that they would just hone it clean it up from normal usage.
It's difficult to say w/o being able to hold and inspect a used piston.....as to whether or not it is still serviceable.....

one thing is for sure......IF you choose to reuse this piston, only do so if you plan on purchasing NEW rings...both oil and compression....along with a new wrist pin..... since it was in the line of fire when this thing gave way.....

the scoring 'appears' to be mostly superficial..... the little dings on the bottom will not effect performance.....BUT, you will want to take a close look at each of them, and it would be best to sand them as smooth as possible....to ensure they dont accidentally 'fall off' into the bottom end......sometimes those little 'dents' are barely hanging on....and remember, that piston travels at over 4000 FPM.....

also....make sure to sand down (using fine grit paper) any sharp edges on the piston which contact the cylinder wall... this will include the bottom of the skirt, around the wrist pin boss, etc...... but do not touch anything above the wrist pin....such as the ring grooves or anti-deto grooves.....

w/o specialty equipment, you cannot tell if there is a hairline crack in the piston.....or whether or not the wrist pin is aligned correctly....but chances are it is OK.....also, your anti-deto grooves still look good......so I dont think your piston 'rocked' too much during the explosion.....

prior to installation......wash with hot, soapy, water.....to clean all debris away......

anyways....jmho.....
