Usually to tighten a bolt you turn it right (righty tighty) but for spinning shafts it is sometimes the opposite. I want to make sure before I do the mod.
The sprocket is held on by a normal bolt, it is not a reverse threaded bolt! Just loosen the carier on the swingarm so that you loosen the chain, then take off the sprocket gaurd and the case saver, then loosen the nut to the sprocket, and pull it out with the chain still on, and switch sprockets. Realy easy, takes about 5-10 minutes to do.

thats right...except you dont have to loosen the chain first....Just switch sprockets, and then tighten the chain because it will be to loose afterwords.
Thanks a bunch guys. Little tid bits so I can make sure. I really appreciate the help.

Just curious. Are you guys adjusting slack w/ 2 fingers between chain and rubber guide on swingarm or 3 fingers. I used 2 on my dirtbikes but my dealer told me he used 3 on his crf. I just want to get it correct so I don't throw a chain. Thanks!!!!
1.5 to 2 inches....
O.K. Thought that might have been too much but I am a rook. What size tires do you run Lude. Lot's more bottom w/out adding to the rear? I will throw the 13t on tomorrow (fri.) and see how it feels. Tips from the Lude! :D Thanks buddy. I really appreciate all the input as I try to get this thing dialed in.

Im just running stock wheels and tires for now....It does give more down low, but it dont seem to be near as low as a stock 400ex...its still pretty tall first gear, even with the 13 tooth...I like it both ways, it depends on where I ride and with whom i ride with.
after doing alot of riding today with the 13 tooth sprocket, I think I like the 14 tooth way better....let me explain....weather I use the 13 tooth or the 14 tooth sproket I still have to use 1st gear most of the time. I found that 1st gear with the 14 tooth is way more usable then 1st gear with the 13 tooth...with the 13 it seems like I always need to be between 1st and 2nd, so there is no real usable power. but with the 14 tooth I could run around in first gear and still be able to go fast enough without having to shift to second, there for the power with the 14 tooth is alot more usable. This atv seems to have a tall 1st gear even with the 13 tooth, becasue of this the 14 tooth, was way better and I didnt have to shift from 1st to 2nd, and back, near as much....hope this helps....

Conclusion...I think I am going to always use the stock 14 tooth, but I am going to try the 13 tooth in the sand, I think it will be more usefull there....later.
I'm gonna try 18" tires in the back with stock gearing. Anyone else run this? I'm hoping it sets me up just right, with a little more down low.
yeah man i just changed mine today its real easy :D
