engine numbers

Got a huge problem. Bought a bike that a guy built as a basket case from parts off of the internet. the frame is brand new with numbers but the motor cases have no numbers on them. to register it in california I need some numbers. does anyone have a set of busted up cases that they would sell so I could transfer the numbers? Please help
