carb is way better than efi

depends what you prefer you have to bring in efi for any little prob they say a little more throttle response with it but i dont know how much more throttle response you can have than my r. and i know how to work on the carb so i like carb.
I think the 2010 TRX450R will be EFI. I know the next quad I buy will be EFI. A couple of races in the series I race in has some good elevation changes. (This last weekend for example ranged from 2000' to 7500'.) Impossible to jet for. Sure would be nice to not have to worry about leaning the motor out at low elevations.

EFI is great and all but 90% of my riding is within 750 ft to 1500 ft. So jetting for elevation isnt necessary. Id hate to see honda totally do away with the carb, but rather offer the option for us to choose between the two. hmm seems like yamaha enginerds may have had their thinking caps on.

I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about.
Honda will eventually bring EFI onboard all their machines.
Honda is always the last one for everything including EFI.
Honda follows the lead, (not trendsetters)
Nothing better than plugging my laptop into my 06 LTR and adjust things , about 20 seconds and you can try it out !!
Carbs are good power makers...... Hard to get a steady a/f ratio

EFI gets better gas mileage, better throttle responce, cleaner running, adjust better...... so many good things about EFI over carbs!!!

Diag. on EFI is is alittle harder but you can hookup a PC and see what going down!!!! Well maybe not dirtbike's yet.... but soon!!!
I am sure that carbs will soon be completely replaced by EFI......It works much better and is easily tuned with a PC
EFI and carb models should be offered, everyone has their preference

i agree but knowing honda you won't get the choice. they will eventually go to efi once they are the last ones with a carb setup
.............and who knows?............Honda may drop a surprise on us next week when they release the rest of the '09 models at the Euro bike show in Germany.

that would be cool, but in the ATV world it seems the only thing Honda has been droppin lately is the ball.
it all depends what they mean by efi, and if it could be better than carb. when efi first came out, depending on gm, ford, etc, a lot of times, a computer used rpm vs load, or map sensor (manifold absolute pressure) and used a linear fuel and timing table. my opinion, this is no better than a carb, but with more sensors to fail. this is what i would think would be typically used on a bike. newer efi uses a mass air sensor, so air volume is measured, not just velocity, and the right amount of fuel is mixed. there are other variables like ambient temp sensors, intake temp sensors, secondary intake temp sensors. o2 sensors are still not used to their full capability, although getting much better. wideband o2 vs narrowband? there are to many different ways to do it to say which is better, but if there is no mass air sensor, leave the carb alone
