all these decisions on shocks, arm, lengths, swing arms, axles, and i just learned the engine looks like i have a whole new subject to learn!! I have just got into sport atvs always had 4x4s with mud tires and would ride in swamps and what not well i want to start getting into XC and MX racing from what it looks like i may need a 2 bikes and one for each BUT i was wondering if theres a happy median here? i want to start working on my suspension BUT i really dont knwo where to start i read some of the pinned posts BUT i figure the best way to learn is to have input from members, so with what i have told you in mind about xc and mx racing share some of your set ups and how you like it with good details please i need all the help i can get ha ha thanks in advace!!

seeing as XC and MX are on opposite sides of the suspension needs i don't think you can have a really happy median. maybe be good and be able to do both, but not excel at either.
JMO lets here some other's
Ya i mean honesty..... figure out which one you want to run with, and do it. cause they are on oposite sides of the spectrum. My advice, take for whats its worth...... do which one you have more fun with and focus on it...... the choice is hands down for this guy.... MX BABY!!

I agree with the above posts you need to decide which one is your most riding time and get your suspension set up for that, I have spend a few g's on suspension before i decided MX was the way for me cause when i tried to do both the suspension suffered in some way or another, either not stiff enough for MX packing the frame on huge landings or it being on the point of harsh for XC riding not plush enough on the washboard and chatter bumps.
Ok well with that in mind my concern was i like XC racing BUT we built a mx type track at a buddys house with all kinds of jumps and such then theres a second mx track near my house and 2 actual MX tracks 30 mins away i guess what i was thinking is i want to XC race BUT i have alot of fun riding the mx tracks

You can do a XC setup but it's going to lack stiffness on a MX track, Or you can talk to a builder and see if there is a happy medium for both but it is still going to be one or the other i fell to stiff for XC and not really stiff enough for large jumps on MX tracks.
then you should probably go with a XC setup and just try to tighten it up some for MX. get yourself some LT +1 aarms and shocks to match that. i would go with PEP or motowoz shocks both compression and rebound adjustable. as far as the rear goes. you should stick with the stock swingarm, and get a XC link and a matching rear shock. (you could een go with a rebuild by GTthunder, derisi, moto experts, and i believe there are a few others now.) if you dont have the money for a LT link and shock. the can be many different kinds i for one wouldnt go with anything besides Lonestar, RPM, or leager. they are the ones that i know of who offer a TRUE lifetime warranty. durablue does not. also the nice thing about them they are adjustable from i think -1 to +3. that way you can change it to the type f riding you want to do (wider will be better for MX) when you want to ride a MX track you can adjust you axle out and stiffen your shocks. no it wont be as good a mx setup but itll let you have some fun with your buddies.
