Just split the cases on my 04, this crank felt good, its within spec on everything, but theres a copper color on the splines on one end. Any ideas?

Also, I'm replacing almost every single part of this engine (and quad), should I just buy a new crank? Or how can I tell if this is still new? The piston amd cylinder were perfectly new, almost gives me a feeling it had a complete rebuild already.

The crank is copper looking in many places, it’s just a surface treatment. Even though the crank “looks” good, I would have it rebuilt. That crank is 16 years old, it’s not the updated crank, and you have no idea how much time is on it. Imagine you run it after replacing everything and the crank let’s go, now all your new parts are junk.
