A rough estimate is 3 teeth in the rear is equal to 1 in the front.

To figure out your ratio devide the rear by the front. So for you your stock ratio is 38 divided by 13 for a 2.92 to 1 ratio. The closer you get to a 1 to 1 ratio the higher your top end speed will be, the further you get from 1 to 1 the faster you will get moving...

The ratios are as follows

Front / Rear

14 . . . 36 = 2.57 to 1
14 . . . 37 = 2.64 to 1
14 . . . 38 = 2.71 to 1
14 . . . 39 = 2.78 to 1
14 . . . 40 = 2.85 to 1
14 . . . 41 = 2.92 to 1

13 . . . 36 = 2.76 to 1
13 . . . 37 = 2.84 to 1
13 . . . 38 = 2.92 to 1 06 and up Stock Gearing
13 . . . 39 = 3.00 to 1
13 . . . 40 = 3.07 to 1
13 . . . 41 = 3.15 to 1

12 . . . 36 = 3.00 to 1
12 . . . 37 = 3.08 to 1
12 . . . 38 = 3.16 to 1
12 . . . 39 = 3.25 to 1
12 . . . 40 = 3.33 to 1
12 . . . 41 = 3.41 to 1

So with a stock gearing of 13/38 at 2.92 to 1 you can go down in the rear 1 to end up with 13/37 at 2.84 and gain some top end.

There is the info now go have some fun playing with gearing it does make a world of difference :p

that's the gearing i run, 14/36 and have a split 35 sprocket to try. if you have the power to push it than go for it!!....i love mine it pulls hard @ 660 ft it's running 67 mph when i drag race it. but it will run i guess 75 or so tops, i don't like to hold it that long pinned.

works good in the trails too, you just work the clutch a litte more....don't have to shift as much and it gets scarry fast in 3rd in the woods! here is a tool you will like. give max speed for gearing.
