burning oil???????

now i have heard that u need to change the rings on the r's fairly often, and mine probobally needs that, but mine is not burning much, but it is noticable, my frinds dad said when his was brand new his did to, just wondering if you guys ever notice this????

Are you still on the stock piston and rings? If so, that's definitely your problem. The stock piston is a 3 ring piston, so it shouldn't use much if any oil at all. Your best bet would be to put a new piston in it and go up in compression to give you some extra ponnies.
could be valve seals or valve guides the ex guides like to go bad fairly often but it also could and probley be the piston
even if the rings werent the problem, your bike is old enough to where i would just replace them better yet get a new piston.
Yeah my 05 starting burning a little oil so I put a new Venom 12.25 Piston and now it doesn't burn a drop.
I noticed my oil was down when i checked the marks on the glass. when i changed the oil I had it at the high mark maybe even a hair above that, and thats after running it and letting the oil cycle threw the engine. But now its below the low mark, so my guess is my rings are not so good. This is after riding a few trails and a weekend trip to the dunes.

yeah i have heard about the 12.25 venom, my friends dad is runnin that in his bike, but i cant do that and run stock bore can i????? if so, where can i get one??
