Bent Valve

Can anyone describe to me as best as possible how to tell if your valve is bent based off how the bike runs? ..I finally got my bike running, timing on, clearances in check, everything. And as i was shutting it off (started and idled great) i heard a loud knock from the head. Started it back up and ran perfectly.

Update: Just started her up again, idles fine. Nothing abnormal. Waiting for it to cool down and gonna check timing, clearances and maybe adjust the decomp again. Decomp is at 70 psi, Going to lower it to about 60-65

Depends on how bad the valve is bent!!! May cause a misfire, backfire, poping...

Only way to no for sure is to do a leakdown test!!!!

Gah, didnt hear any misfire, or backfires as it was idleing after i heard the knock, but didnt rev or ride it. And i dont have a compressor and a leakdown tester nor does anyone I know. Do dealerships do it? How much would it cost

A dealer or qualified shop can do it... cost....mmmmm..... 1-2 hr @ shop rate!!!!

Some times you can only get a misfire underload!!!

If your cam timing is good and you think everything else is good..... warm it up and and see what happens!!!

If you bent a valve it wasn't when you shut it off!!!!
I would think your valve clearance would be lose if you bent a valve(s)

Reason being if it were bent, it would'nt retract all the way thus suddenly having extra valve lash...

Just ran my bike thru all gears, feels and sounds good! I doubt i bent a valve

Sounds good.....

The only sound I've heard from bending valves is a rapid clacking noise..... like a automatic gun!!!!
