I bought a TrueGel battery, a little more cca's for a few more bucks. i think i paid 75 at honda....ebay ive seen them for 65.

 

Batteriesplus has them for around $50-same size as stock

 

I ordered a UPG battery this is a direct replacement apparently.

the one from wal mart is 20 bucks and it is great i have had mine for 2 years and have not had one problem out of it.

 

wish i woulda known that . . . paid 90 for mine and had to wait for it!

I have a sti dont remember the size but it was only lik 37.95. I like it it starts mine with no problem

Can you please post more info on this ? Im sooo sick of the 450 batteries. We have been through 3 of them this year !
also, is the AMps/watts(what ever its called) safe to run ? IF so, why would they put a smaller one on a 450 ?

IV had issues with the Scorpion AND the OEM . Neither seems to keep a charge long

wal mart dont carry them any more atleast not ive seen. i even checked walmart.com and it always says out of stock. you should really get a battery tender or maintainer. i just plug mine in when im done riding and leave it plugged in till next time i ride. i have the stock battery and its lasted a few years and we get some cold weather and snow during winter. i can tell its starting to get alittle weak so i been searching around trying to weigh out my options

 

I use an Antigravity 8 cell lithium battery. They are half the size of OEM and have 240 CCAs (compared to 130 CCAs in a YTZ7S Yuasa battery). They also sell this in direct OEM replacement size. You do have to buy a specific charger for them though.

Sorry to revive an older topic, but D17xc, can you give us an update on this. I too am in the market for a battery and $180 is a little steep.

The extra CCA's would be nice. Higher compression and cold weather are KILLERS of the OEM batteries.

Sorry for the delay. My machine has been sitting all winter and has only been started maybe 3-5 times in the last 2 months. It's cranked over and fired up no problem without being charged. I got mine through BNR Motorsports when they were on sale @ $169 for battery and charger included. Ryan at BNR advised he uses a 12 cell in his Pro quad for his team instead of throwing in a 24V start system. I didn't feel I needed to go with the 12 cell myself though. I will look around the net for some deals on them.

 

hey gumby i just bought a Battery and am about to install it on sunday. Thought i'd share it with you.

What i bought off RMATV is Bike Master TruGel No Maintenance Battery MG7ZS. It's going for 62 dollars. It was suggested by quite a bit of people i spoke to. Another option was the shorai lithium iron battery. But that's 150 bucks.

Spending almost 200 dollars for a little batterry, you better expect it to live up to that kind of standards.

I might get another pair and get DirtWorks dual battery 24v system.

 

Coues and I both run the Shorai. Its like 1/4 the weight, 1/2 the size, and cranks fast. Worth every penny!

 

Shorai is the direct competition for "AntiGravity Batteries". I know this because EVERY comparison the website made used them as a reference.

The Bike MAster is the one we have had to replace more than anything lately. lol
I do need to buy a battery tender... the thing about it is they dont usually sit long enough to be going through them . My 2002 honda 400ex battery last me 5 years . I swear they just dont make them like they used to .

 

I am looking for a battery to soon. My lasted maybe 8 months

 

Shorai for the win!! GReat battery. They do however not like the cold weather as much as a lead acid battery. This goes for every lithium ion battery though.

 

So do they still crank good in cold weather? Here it around 30 and summer 70+
