I had a problem with a Venom 12.25:1 piston coming up too high and kissing the head on the left and right side of the dome.
Have you clay checked your clearance there? May want to open her up and look at that piston.

What cdi box do you have. I had this happen with a friends bike and as soon as it got hot it retarded the timing cause the cdi box was bad(pro com) installed a stock cdi back on and the bike ran fine , i would try a different cdi box if i were you[/b]

I'm getting ready to start a 501 build.I bought a dyna tech programmable cdi and still had the same problem the bike would get hot and start to misfire or sometime not want to start I found out it was the spark plug I had a IFR8H11 in it I put a colder plug IFR9H11 and runs fine now.[/b]

What were the symptoms of a bad cdi box? i might have a bad cdi box. mine starts and idles fine but about 1/3 throttle up it starts backfiring and shooting flames. It happened all the sudden. It ran fine with the jetting it has for months. I have checked every possible thing. Clean everything in the carb and checked wires. i can't figure it out.What cdi box do you have. Before i started having problems it was biege and looked great. But now it's black as hell. i know it's overloading on fuel but i can't figure out why?
