one of the guys we ride with is going to the sand show this weekend and wants to get some hopups for his ex. its a trail/duner.







Lookin for
exaust
piston
cam.

wants to run it on pump gas.

RMATV had the yoshi full system for pretty cheap....haven't looked lately though
416 with high comp is a great runner....my buddies has a CP 12.5:1 but that is race gas...
Hotcam Stage 2 for sure....

Sparks timing key is pretty good for a stocker type motor....

im a little lost on the ex builds ... whats a timing key?
im imagining its an adjustable settup for the timing?

Just an offset woodruff key for the fly wheel...pretty popular mod....

I ran the Sparks x6 exhaust full system, Sparks key, Sparks cam, 39FCR and an IMS440. That thing was a torque monster, I miss it sometimes.

The easiest mods for an EX are Exhaust, filter, cam, revbox. WORLD of difference right there.

I just helped my buddy build a 440ex with a extremely light custom ROSS piston @ 11.2:1 compression and its ok w/ pump gas. It has a Stage 2 cam, Port and Polish, pipe, intake and soon a 450 carb. It goes pretty good.

whats stock compression on these?
anyone got a lead for an online manual for these?

I have a 450r 04/05 carb they are a hot set up for those too.
Do the 416 set up or the 426.
Hot Cams 2 is good as well like others said.

I have a manual on a cd I can send you a copy... shoot me a pm I will try to get it handles for you... you will spend a bunch of money trying to make it fast and it still will not run with the 450's

i wish i knew what was done to this one 400ex that rode with us one time, it was wicked for a ex, full on drag quad it would beat quite a few 450s, he bought it used and had no clue what size or what was done to it other then what u could see

mine was fast as hell just took lots of money... and a heck of a port job done by my father.. dynoed 42.6 for a 416 pump gas build

I ran a Janssen Revbox but i've never heard of a "bad" rev box for the ex so anything should be fine

my buddy just wants to do the usual stuff to it, he knows it cant outrun the 450's

its all stock so im sure a cam,piston, and pipe will give it a little get up to make him happy for a little while.
