Hey guys, my first post here.
I have an 04 TRX450R that I rebuilt. It has a stage 3 hotcam and a Empire Industries exhaust. Quad rips real good, pulls hard. I am having a fuel issue being on the stock carb. I have been looking for an 06+ crf450r carb because it seems like everyone is doing that. What are my other options as I can not find one of those carbs? The OEM 04 carb is junk. Any help would be appreciated, and if I would need anything else that goes with the carb you are suggesting like a Airbox, ect. Thank you in advance.

What kind of fuel issue are you having? The stock carb will deliver more than enough fuel for the simple mods you have.

It bogs out, have to give it quarter throttle to start. it will stall at idle. It will dump fuel out the float. float constantly gets stuck. I have rebuilt it twice myself and ive sent it out to get rebuilt.

What jets do you currently have in it, and are you sure the float is at the right height/angle. I had the same issue rebuilt my carb and nothing was working ended up being the float was not adjusted correctly. 8mm is the the correct height, i agree with hoser the 04/05 carbs are fine (more simple than fcr but good) an fcr carb new will run you 7-800, unless you can find one used. But give us your jet sizes and go from there.

I hope your not hitting the throttle while cranking this is a sure way to take out your starter clutch. Welcome to the forum!
^^ exactly ^^ you mentioned that you give 1/4 throttle while starting. THATS a huge no no, honda put out a bulletin many years ago. It will destroy your starter clutch. I suggest starting with your pilot jet first, get it so it starts and idles. Then go from there.
