Has anyone else switched to a 13 tooth sprocket yet? I just switched mine today with a Renthal 13 tooth. I think I like it but it will take more riding time to determine.

How do you guys like your 13 tooth sprocket? ( those who have one)

I was going to go up 2 teeth in back but I decided to try this out first....and so far I like it...I liked the 14 tooth too, so i need to ride it like this and decide if I like it. One thing I can say is it did not slow it down as much as I thought it would...It still feels way taller then a stock 400 ex.

This has turned out to be quite the debate. My buddy who owns a stock geared 400ex rode my R yesterday (My R-I love saying it!). He agreed that 1st was tall but he could wheelie the machine way better than his 400ex. Of course, the R's geometry is superior to the 400ex and better suited. So I just figured I would train myself to ride on what Farr and Honda gave ma and, only then, slowly adjust.
I admit that I grew tired of clutching while breaking it in on the tight trails. I just received 8" ITP's and I am first going to try 18" 4ply Klaws and use stock gearing for the time being. Yes the PRM 1/4" swing skid will be workin' hard for the money while chugging through the trails! I love hearing what you guys have to say. This is a terrific forum. Keep up the good work Tom!

I think I will end up using both sprockets...it takes about 5 min to change and adjust chain...So I will probably change it back and forth depending on where Im riding....

I am very curious wich one I will like the best in the sand. More Acceleration, or more top end...I guess I will find out...Ive heard its better to drop a tooth for the sand anyway.

trx450rlude....have ya run your R against the vforce yet
yes, From a dead stop my V-force kills the R...by like 4 or 5 quad links...all thats done to my V-force is a EPI pink spring....that was with 22 inch tires....now I have 20 inch tires on the V-force so it accels a little better......The R is always playing catch-up and has a lot faster top end...but it takes the R a half mile to even catch the V-force...so in a 300 ft drag....the V_FORCE kills my R.....but my R is stock...just wait.

I dont know, now that you put it that way, You have the HRC kit. If he still has the stock spring in the transmission, you will beat him anyway.....If you start from a rolling start, you will beat him also....You just cant beat the way that thing launches.

I started with the hrc kit and the stock 14 tooth and I actually had no complaints at first but riding with my wife things are more tame in general. she actually likes riding through water and trails and I found the stock gearing was way way to tall. I installed the 13 tooth thinking it would solve all my problems and it would be faster too. Well for the trails and water it was alot better but I hated it for everything else. I kept it to see if if my thoughts would change and they did although it took me a long time probly about 30 hours or more to get use it completely. Through this site I have seen people saying the stock gearing is faster so I have been thinking about trying it again and if I like then I will just stay with the 14 and switch to 13 when we hit the trails or water. I ocassionally ride dunes and I have heard from a few people on this site as well that the 13 is better in the dunes.

Anyways just my 2 cents worth.

What do you guys think? Thanks

I've only ridden with a 13T in the sand, and the 2 other R's I ride with are the same way. However, Jan 4th I'll be headed out to Glamis, and will have the 14T back on it. So I'll post whether or not I like it, and how it compares to the other 2 450R's I ride with.
