Here ya go Sparks Racing

Personally though, if I were going to go to the trouble of installing a high compression piston I would go straight for the 13:1 piston. Your already going to have to have a mix of race gas and 93 octane for the 12:1 to run safely so why not just do the 13.8:1 and run straight race gas? talk to Woodward racing, one of the boards sponsors. He carries Sparks stuff and maybe able to get the piston cheaper.

Hey guys, why do we have to run race gas at 12:1 when the YFZ has a sticker on the tank that says 91 octane required minimum and it has 12.5:1 ???
its a good idea?? I dunno but anything over 11.5:1 or so I mix race gas just in case my jetting is a little lean so I dont detonate my mill on the trails. Im just used to running cars and a lot of the logic and things I have learned screw with me. But I have seen alot of cars running aluminum heads detonate running 93 and 11:1 compression so that is why I said that. I suppose you can run 91 if you really wanted to but why chance it?

The yfz spects are 11.9:1, but i think that 93 pump would be ok up to 12.5:1.

Laz at GT Thunder told me he would recommend the use of race gas on any higher compression piston on the 450r motor.

We're running that horsecrap 91 RFG here nowadays so even 92 is off the menu ... (A big reason I keep a couple gals of Xylene around) ...

And here I thought I read in DW the YFZ was 12:1 or 12.5:1 ... Hmmm ... O well ...
I forgot that some places don't have 93 pump anymore... maybe you could start a business on the downlow running 93 pump across the state line.

Oh yeah, i got the 11.9:1 spect from the yamaha site... but it may just be for the '05s.
