Anyone ran the 1/8 of a mile with a 13th sprocket and 18 inch tires and a stock pipe, jet and filter. I ran it wih the 14 and stock tires and the best i could do was a 9.436 at 66mph. I was wondering if it would do better with the lower gearing.

Where do you guys go for this kind of stuff. That would be cool to see how good of a 1/8 mile i can do.

I sure have wanted to do that too. I heard of some guys racing vettes in the 1/8 out here and winning...

I don't think people realize how fast and dangerous these things are, especially when I see 13 year old kids out beating these bikes like a drum...

Is that with a different rev box? If so which one? And what size tires?

Here, see if you numbers correspond. Gearing Calculator by Gabe

that calculation is for a stock bike..
i have the stock rev box on it ,but i do have a magnum cdi box that i don't want to use because it lets the engine rev alittle higher than i want it to.
20/11/10 tires.

Stock or modded, it gives you the numbers for gearing/tires/RPM = speed (rider weight, wind resistance, etc is not factored in). That rev box you have has been proven to only add about 400 more RPM (with 2D only mapping and a terrible timing curve).

A modded engine 450R vs a stock engine 450R with stock rev box, same tires, same gearing, weight, etc will go the same top speed. The modded engine quad will just get to that speed quicker.

82mph with 13/39 gearing, 20" tires, and a stock rev box? :ermm:

I have to agree with 29

When I had complete stock I ran about 76 top speed on GPS. I took out my sparky and ran about 79.
I then put my 13T and could only muster about 74 mph. It did get there quicker.
I then got the HRC kit and have not put the cam in yet and I run about 77.

82 sounds bad fast for that 13T sproket. Maybe he got a faster one

this speed may not be right b/c it was done when i was beside a streetbike, but with the hrc cam you will run faster than 77....with a 13/39

gabe's calculator says 72mph is the fastest 13/39 will take you. it doesn't matter what cam you use - only gearing and tire size will change your top speed.

if you believe that, put your stock cam in your bike and see if you don't have a lower top speed.
i know for a fact that the hrc cam is faster, because i raced a trx with the cam before i put mine in and he beat me by 4 bikes...and he still has his stock pipe.

i have the stock cam in mine. it takes a while for me to reach top speed so maybe you're just getting to the limiter faster with the hrc cam...?

Top speed and acceleration are two different things. A cam WILL NOT give you a faster top speed.

acceleration is changed by gearing
theres a page in dirt wheels that talks about this, they said that the TOP SPEED on the trx is 78.9,and after putting a biggun pipe, and hrc cam top speed was 80+
so now tell me hows that not changing top speed?

Either they changed gearing too, or they are just stupid (well .. it is DW). LOL

Post the question in the engine forum, there are some guys that have more experience with engines/gearing than both of us combined. But, it is physics, without changing gearing or the tires (or the rev limiter), you will not have a faster top speed UNLESS you didn't have enough power in the first place to pull to the limiter.
