Big shock problem (hopefully not)

Just bought some standard travel Elka stage 5 front shocks for $400. Little did I know they are for flat track. I ride trails and nothing near flat track haha. Would they work for me or should I have him refund my money? Or flip them? I feel like 400 was very cheap but I should have talked to him longer. Any advice please

I'm not a shock expert but I'm guessing that the flat track shocks would be very stiff to prevent body roll & you can't get traction if your wheels are bouncing & those tracks are maintained so you don't need to soak up bumps....
