Has anyone had any experience adding an oil cooler to an 06-07 TRX450R or had any trouble running the 06-07 as a MX Quad without a fan and no oil cooler? Thanks for any input!

I know the crf bikes have a mod that will allow them to do this... they replace the stock oil filter cap with one that has a input and a output on it and they run the oil from there through the oil cooler... I would imagine this would be the same...

a lot of people with the 04-05's are getting rid of them. no need to add weight to your ride. IMO

Ordinary people, simply doing their jobs, and without any particular hostility on their part, can become agents in a terribly destructive process. Moreover, even when the destructive effects of their work become patently clear, and they are asked to carry out actions incompatible with fundamental standards of morality, relatively few people have the resources needed to resists. -Milgram

Actually I've been wanting to add the cooler to my 07 as well but for a different reason, turbo :)
I haven't gotten to this project yet, but it was one of the road blocks in my mind. Good to know there is an easy work around.

Thanks,
Brian

On a stock or even a fairly modified motor it's a waste of money and energy. The only exception I can imagine is riding long periods of time in Death Valley or Thermal, CA during peaks summer time (120+ degrees F)...

Turbo? are you just using it to drag race or TT?

that may or may not be true. unless there is substancial evidence i wouldn't believe it.

how many people just on this forum bash other companies with NO reason or proof behind what they're saying?

On the flip side there are folks/companies claiming that their products are the 'ticket' and make outragiously glorious claims. I just found it interesting (and kinda good) that Alba allowed negative customer feedback/opinion.

Regarding people on this forum 'bashing' - I ain't one of 'em (yet )

Juat about every 06 and newer 450R in the series I race in is running them, have not heard of any problems with them. I like the way the review says it "failed", who knows what happened. It may have been a problem with the cooler itself, or maybe it was installed wrong who knows.

For me and the type of riding I do, I will always run a oil cooler. It is really up to you if you think you need to spend the money on one. Do you really need one, probably not, and since they are not on the 2006 and newer 450R's, Honda does not think it is needed either, but cooler oil will not hurt a thing.
