Is this a good deal??

I’m looking for a 450r to race gncc. I came across an 07 for 3500. I’m sure I can get it for 3k. It has a lot of parts. I’ll just let you read the post. I found the original owner. He said when he had it, it was in tip top shape but it’s been through a couple owners since. The engine is bone stock. After you read this tell me what u think about the problem it’s having. And I’ll also let you read what the original owner said about it.

Buying a used race bike is a crap shoot. Most times they have nice add ons but may be wore out. Plus if the suspension isn't serviced and set up for you then you can put a chunk into getting that right, esp if it wasn't set up right in the beginning. Best you can do is go look at it and ride it listen to it and check over the bearings and stuff best you can and decide if you feel good about it or not. A list of add ons would help determine value. Guaranteed it won't be long til you will be wanting to change something about it.

I concur. ^^^

The pics aren’t loading for me, but as mentioned I would look the machine over real good. Bearings for suspension components are stupid expensive and can add up quick if they are all shot. Check the frame for cracks, not as worrisome on a XC type machine, but they can still pop up. Those machines usually look awesome from about 20’ away, but when you get close they look pretty beat up. But if it’s in good shape and tight it’s much cheaper to get into a good quad with lots of parts buying used and set up already. No matter what, I’d send all shocks in for rebuild/valving/re-spring if you are going to race.

I’m not sure of everything it has but just the things I can see
Hiper beadlocks
Houser a arms
Fasst flexx bars
Looks like pro armor nerf bars
Looks of newest tires
Aftermarket hood
Grips
Bone stock engine
I can’t think of anything else but I know there’s more

So if you guys couldn’t read that. It says that it won’t start with electric start because the valves need reshimmed but it will roll start and run perfect. If I go look at it will it be ok to roll start it and ride it a little bit? Or will it cause damage?

And the guy that built it said it was setup for a 250 pound rider (his dad had it before him). I’m around 205 or somewhere along those lines so it’ll be alright. The builder also said that they will probably need to be rebuilt pretty soon.

Alright. I got my ip ban situation worked out haha. So I think I’m looking at the bike this week or next. If it’s really the valves that are not adjusted right and we roll start it and ride it around just to see if it really runs good will it hurt the engine or will it be ok to ride around for a minute or so?

The pics loaded for me both times. As mentioned check the frame out. Main place I had trouble with was around the foot peg area, and also the subframes tend to wear out around the bottom bolt holes on the frame. There can be a big difference in 205 and 250 on the shocks. Will probably need different springs and valving depending on who did them. Valving is not a big deal, springs can get costly. Good luck on it.

Well I don’t think the shocks are gonna be a big deal right now because when I get it I’m still gonna have to get used to it, then start learning how to race a little better, get all my gear. I’m hoping it looks as good in person as the pictures do.
