From what i have heard its just where they mount up but i could be wrong if you got a welder and some metal know how you should be able to make it work

I just got through wrestling with this...both ways! The angle of the exhaust port at the head is different. I took a long 1/2 drive extension, and a deep well socket that fit snugly into the head pipe, heated it at the first bend and bent it accordingly.
It was a pain in the ass, and I wouldnt suggest it. But if you are hard headed like me, just do it.
P.S. I eventually bought a pipe made for the bike.

aside from what they said, internal construction and power is the biggest difference, the new 06 style is much better flowing and sounding they have completely different internal baffles
this of course answering the question assuming you are asking what the difference is in the stock pipes.... like torque said the angle is the biggest prob mounting...ive bent a few as well but you have to be careful wit that type of steel IMO i used to try to bend golf club driver heads the same way, stainless ones , they will break

my main concern was as in an aftermarket slip-on exhaust ... would i have to change anything in that area?
