That's going to depend on what type of soil you're riding on. In some cases it will help but then hurt your top end. Was your bike bogging off the line before? If not, it might not make much difference.

Maybe I was thinking too critically here. Dropping one tooth in the front is a lot of difference. This is about equal to two in the rear. Going up one maybe what you're looking for. I tried a one tooth smaller counter sprocket up front and it was too much so I went back to stock on both my 400ex and 450r. When you get into tight trails on the 450, it can seem to have a tall first gear. Try what you have and see how you like it. Hope this helps

thas is correct.....mostly. if you gear for lots of top end, your engine may not be able to pull the hi-speed gearing, and actually slow you down

on the 06 up going down one tooth is alot more extreme than the 04-05. 05 gearing is 14 38 while 06 plus is 13 38. the 05 has wsome long gears down low. on stock to mild machines it really helps in woods and launh to go down a tooth up front. Of coarse when you step up the wilder motors you find yours self having to short of gearing stock and going 15 and 16 fronts. It's good feeling to be 15 38 and still having a useless 1st and 2 nd gear.
