Beeing from Canada snow is soon in the forecast. I recently picked up an 07 trx450r and am excited to the local rivers and lakes to freeze. I'm riding a pretty much stock bike with the green wire mod and am looking to run with some sleds on the ice. Studded tires are a must and I'm looking for some opinions on gearing. I noticed the QUAD CALCULATOR and did some experimenting with it. I'm not terribly worried about holeshots and would like to ride in the 90's with the stock setup. Is this possible without wrecking all other performance aspects of this machine? It looks like a 15 35 would do the trick but is that too much change?

Thanks guys!

Well first off you'll never hit 90 with a stock bike( even with just the green wire mod)..... you just won't hit the rev limiter with that gearing.

I run 22" 4-snow's in the winter and find the stock gearing to be pretty ideal with that size tire. Of course those tires aren't any better than normal tires on ice but are awesome on snow.

I assume you would be much happier with a set of 4-snows than studded tires unless you plan on just running on ice........ Studded tires aren't worth crap in snow... IMO
