I switched to this stuff last year and haven't looked back since. I noticed an improvement over the Honda red bottle stuff I was using before this stuff. http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=112&pcid=13

Give the Redline a shot man I tried it because that's what the local builder here uses in his 450 and I was impressed with it. Got rid of my false neutral problem I was having.

Could you explain this "false neutral problem"? I wonder if mine might be doing it. The first time I got it on my buddy's MX track it seemed to come out of gear after landing some of the jumps (randomly, not any particular jumps). It was also the first time I MXed it with riding boots on so I just figured that I wasn't moving my foot away from the shifter when I jumped and I was accidentally shifting into neutral when I landed. But you mentioning a "false neutral problem" makes me curious. Thanks.

When in 4th gear it would sometimes just pop back into 3rd or when in 3rd it would pop back into second and sometimes I would be going along in 4th or 3rd and it would just start winding up like crazy like I was in neutral. It was also constantly missing second from the 1st to 2nd shift. Honda tried to say I wasn't pulling up hard enough but I've been riding my entire life and never had this problem before. The Honda red bottle stuff seemed to help quite a bit but after I switched to Redline it's all but gone. Once in a while I'll still miss second on the 1st to 2nd shift but not nearly as much as I was. I wanted to push this thing into the ocean before lol.

the problem you are having is not oil problem it is a trany problem. you may have third gear starting to go bad.
or your clutch is not working . try to put 3 barnnet trx 450r hd springs in the clutch this help clutch fade. less clutch
fade will improve shifting.

+1 most likely it seems like a hardware problem with the tranny you might need to look into to, sorry.

As for oil i use the Red honda bottle tranny oil... It works good and is made specifically for tranny oil...

Oil can only go so far, the next best thing to do is to change it often.

GL man.

Thanks for explaining that, I'm not sure if that is what mine is doing exactly. I think I'll wait until I get some more seat time just to make sure it's not something that I'm doing. Thanks again.

What is it that makes you say one oil is bettter than another? I always hear people say, "I used X oil and loved it" What difference can you tell? I assume the trany side shifts easier or something, but what about the motor side?
