Ok, I have an 06 450 Electric Start I bought this thing brand new about 3 years ago. So i havent done any mods to it, Its bone stock. I have maybe only put like 12 hours on this thing, so it sits alot. Sometimes for months, if i cant help it. Anyways i have taken good care of it, plenty of oil changes. I have run thru 2 batteries on this thing, first one was bad from the dealer and the second i just recently bought not more than 2 weeks ago. So my bike sat for like 6 months without getting ridden, i started it and let it run a few times during this period, but thats about it. So i buy the new battery and the bike starts pretty easily, at first when i rode around it died a few times, i just figured it was cause gas sat in the carb for a while. It was running fine after that for about an hour then my buddy stalled it a few times and it was hard to get going again. I got it started after trying to push start it like 5 times, After that it rode fine. I even tried starting it again a few times just to see if it would be alright, it worked. So next time i take it out like a week later, it dies when i give it alot of gas and and wouldnt start again for like 20 minutes. I noticed that a hose between the engine and carb(vaccum hose?) was almost completely off, i tightened it still no go. so i changed the spark plug/oil/oil filter, did a good tune up on it put it all back together. and at first it turned over a few times even started maybe twice then died right after. Now it doesnt even try to turn over. I tried to use up all that old gas i left in the tank while it sat for months the first time i rode it and i added fresh gas when i tuned it up recently, i know i put everything back together correctly, i double and triple checked my work. So i dont know what else to do, if anyone has any ideas that would be great. I know this is a lot of crap, but i just wanna be specific so i can get this problem fixed, thanks in advance.

I have just bougt a 2007 with electric start and it has sit for a long time also. It would not start off the starter. I checked the plug and it was bad so I replaced it and it still is very hard to start but it will. I have been told the 450 is very hard to start cold . I bet we will have to change starter clutch a lot

clean out your carburetor. take it all the way out and give it a nice cleaning. while its apart check the valves. those would cause starting issues. might wanna throw a new sparkplug in it to just since it is a few years old.

sounds like you need to turn the idle up some. you shouldn't have to give these machines any gas while cranking. use the choke. if you give it gas it will trash your starter clutch...you might need to adj your fuel screw alittle for your weather/ altitude.

good luck
