Nicceee, whats the specs?

2006 XC500 snowmobile engine.
2008 XC700 snowmobile primary clutch, with Heel Clicker weight system.
1998 Sport 400 secondary clutch. Better helix and spring on the way.
XC500 ignition, with switchable settings between poor and poorer fuel.
XC700 carbs.
Dyno Port XCR600 pipes, cut to fit.
Custom wiring harness including electric start, heated hand grips and thumb warmer.
1998 Sport 400 chassis.
Fox rear shock (worn out of course).
dry front struts and hubs.
worn out brakes.
worn out tires. Razor's on the way with Kold Kutter ice screws.
1998 Sport trans with reverse, complete with leaking output shaft seal. It'll go as fast in reverse as it will in forward!
Back-lit snowmobile tach.
Third pair of pipes in the making, better suited for rpm and engine type.
TiLube TF-2 Oxy racing fuel and TiLube premix.

I've only owned this thing since last Saturday, there is a 500' dirt drag comng up this weekend, I can hardly wait. Gotta get the arm lengthened and the quad lowered by then too. Get it on the dyno and find out where I'm at.

Very cool Tice!
Glad to hear from an old friend!
Hope all is well out your way.
Good luck at the races!
miller450r
looking sweet tony, yeah get that on the ice, it should be an even tempered good handling machine NOT!

but fun? hell yes!!!!
zax450
dude, that thing is a freak!!! i want one!

Maybe I should have mentioned the Guinness inspiriation.

Thanks guys. You're right Kam, been a while. I tried calling you a while back. I was going to see if you had any Polaris customers that had tried anything like this. The mix of ATV sec clutch and snowmobile primary is proving to be a little problem (atic). I think I will eventually be able to overcome it but, it's defying logic at this point. Might take some more Guinness. trink21.gif

nice job there guy'' i love custom built anything'' i have had three atc convertions in the past and they where a blast to ride. i have eye for detail , and my detail eye keeps tailing me that your rear axle is out of plumb'' i hope its just the pics, but it looks like your in a bit on the throttle side of your bike''have you pull'd a tape from center of wheel to center of wheel'' front to back, to check it? if its out, you'll feel it on the street, not not so much in the dirt or sand.but it look's good bro''' good job.

I haven't had time to do anything but assemble it. The front springs are sacked and it actually has struts that are too long. So it sits a little lop sided, plus that's the heavy side of engine off-set. There is plenty to do for sure. But, you know, it's a project. I got the new clutching today but haven't had time to do anything with it. It WAS radio night afterall. Plus, this came in today

So, I've been a little preoccupied.

Either you're in Booneville or Lamoni. I'm in Perry. We are dealers for TiLube. We also do a fair amount of testing for them. If you're in Booneville, which I'm assuming you are, you are talking about Tony Wenck. He's their race team manager and sales rep. Good fuel btw. Their latest brew was better than VP 4.2 and it's LEGAL! Not to mention $5 less for a 5 gal pale.

Im in Des Moines Hickman racing is just down the street from me. . .I thought that was tilube?? Are you at vanwall in perry?

Yes, that's where I'm at.

Hickman Racing is a TiLube dealer as well. He's probably the original dealer.

Getting closer. Now if I can just get it to hook up.

neatto!!!..... how much hp you figure from the engine?... 80-90?
Ticeman
A cure for the ever loosening trans shafts and oil leak that has developed.

Polaris claims 105 hp. I got 43 out of it on the dyno. With knobbies, and so much tire slippage that chunks were coming off the knobs each run.

LOL......what a sick bastad Tony is......

still sounds like the 400 actually. Always neat shuving engines from something and sticking them in something else!

Give us some more pictures around the heart area big T... Custom pipe had to be made and I want to see it.
homdaddy
when i worked for a dealership we were doing this but we were using xc 700 and 800 rmk engines
mine had a union bay garage 800 that made 180 on there dyno crank shop pipes and all kinds of goodies
we used the snomo clutches with a similar jack shaft set up so we didnt have to run huge rear sprockets
nice clean install tony

I'm not sick, I'm just wired that way. How many YSRs have you ever seen with a YZ450F engine them?

We're on the 5th set of pipes right now. I just finished welding the left side up about 45 min ago. I'll have some shots after I get the globs off and paint them. no_bashing1.gif Keep changing the head pipes and getting more and more out of it.

It is VERY quick, I wish I could get the dyno to show the hp but I can't. It is sooooo quick accelerating, 5-70 mph is 3.5 sec. The down side is, if the tires break traction, the clutches just shift out and it lights the tires then. Hopefully some smaller diameter tires and a tooth or two on the rear sprocket will help. I'm making shorter head pipes in hopes of reducing the torque and increasing the hp, the down side is the pipes have to be totally remade because of space and angles. I'd actually like the motor to pull down a bit too when that happens. Right now it engages at 5500 rpm and shifts at 8400 or so, I want 5500 and 8800.

I'll have shots soon.

We have the first race this Sat if it doesn't get rained out again. We should do OK.

Thanks Homdaddy.
prlandry
5500rpm seems quite high for your clutch to engage. No wonder you're having traction problems evil.gif
homdaddy
thats about right mine engauged at arount 5000 and was done at 8200

tony i have a 4 swinger and a team industires roller secondary off my sport (98)
also what are you using for springs i like the square almond one and the hpd purple

So far other than the weights, it's all stk Polaris. We just adjusted it yet again with another set of weights engages around 7 shifts out around 8800 and will pull up to 9000. We too enough bottom end away from i the first 200 yds, it's still working to pull forward. I persoannly liked the set of pipes right before this one, they'd be perfect for ice oval tracking.

Like the black wheels?

Sweet project tony, nice hearing from ya, looks like fun!

I love beer inspired projects! Looks great if you can dial it in! That thing would be a RIOT on the ice!

My beer inspired project.
Ticeman
Gumby, that is one sick ride you got there.

Thanks Ry.

Well, had the first failure. It pulled the middle drive chain in half. I'm going to reduce the gearing going back together, from 2.16:1 to 2.31:1, a little bit less stress against the chain plus it'll help with keeping it from spinning so hard. I hope it stops raining so we can race Saturday.

500' on pavement vs 08 46.5 hp LTR450.

300' on dirt

Cool project Tony, looks like it would be a fun ride. Good to see a Ticeman thread on the ORG too... been a while.

Better part of a couple years I'm sure. And it's not a Honda or a Yamaha or a Suzuki or a Kawasaki or a KTM or a Polaris Predator. It's a freak. It is all Polaris though except the pipes which are Dyno Ports. Absolutely had to get rid of the stock transmission unfortunately. No more reverse and freewheeling while moving it around. It's getting better everyday. Haven't even started tuning it yet. The motor is all stock, all stock clutch components, not even a roller secondary at this point. Found out yesterday that the wheel bearings were dry, putting short struts on and found out the rt hub would not come off, the bearing seized to the axle. Oops. I guess that's what I get for not checking anything out before the purchase. Other than I knew the original engine was a POS.

Thanks Nor*Cal.

Im might have to stop by and check this polaris out.An maybe have you do a tune on my R. You did a great job on the craptor i had.

So, this is what is meant by; The boss is away, the boys will play. I go to the Alpinestars new product show Wed night. This is what they show me the next day.

martin_mx_288
That looks like fun!!! There is a guy up here that races MX and has a I believe sportsman motor that single cyl 413 cc 2 stroke hooked to a centrifugal clutch in a 250R chasis. Its dumb! Makes like 90 fly wheel hp. weights less than a 450r, and he doesn't have to shift! And it handles. Lethal!
Ticeman
BNG!!!

The first race is today. 500' of grass and dirt. I can hardly wait. It's kinda sorta muddy, the ground is real heavy, we put mud lites on, 24/11 x 10 with 2 psi. TRACTION. Hopefilly the tires don't get spun off the rims.

I hope you'll have some footage of it.....

Hope your running a clutch guard on that thing. A friend of mine lost half a finger and got a pound of aluminum in his leg when the primary clutch came apart on his rotax-banshee. Messy...
