got a group of 7 couples heading to silver lake this weekend from PA. Ill have my yfz520 venom build and i'm looking forward to seeing how it pulls in the sand. also have a yfz480 build that is not officially venom powered, but is venom inspired. we have a yfz565 efi from jsr(booo,,just kidding,, heading up as well along with a ct350 built honda three wheeler. the yfz's are white and black sporting enough venom logos to think i'm a long lost son of venom or something. anyway it would be great to meet some folks from the atv community here. i realize it's moving past the peek season but we thought it would be less crowded this way. hope to see some of you there. let me know who may come. should be staying at the sierra sands as they are good friends of ours. just wanted to update the gang here on how my yfz520 with venom porting, pipe, piston ran last weekend.
i was very pleased with the power and honestly it ran stronger than i imagined. pretty much owned the strip with the black venom yfz last weekend. there weren,t any built 4 strokes there to compete with but about a half dozen banshees got their out of frame feelings hurt. not trying to add to the banshee rivalry, but it sure is awesome when the out-of-framers dart off after an unexpected loss and i really love when they pull up to my friends and ask if they know what the 4 stroke has under the hood!
there was a group from Illinois powersports there with 3 banshees ranging from 88hp to 100 plus hp. the fastest was a blue and white one with dual out of frame pipes on one side running alchohol. he was a hand full and very fast and on day one i lost more than i won for sure, but day two i rejetted and took out the sparky (sorry dcnr) and lowered my tire psi to get a better launch and i would say i won 6 out of 8. i had a great setup with the +6" swingarm and 12 paddle haulers. i'm 230lbs and it was still lifting me off the ground to the point i had to sit on the tank to launch. i had a white yfz480 that ran just behind my 520 as well.

i just want to thank john from venom for the excellent components, tersejr for all the tips and help along with sredrum for the excellent carb work. also a special thanks o the members of this great site for all the insight as well. i really look forward to heading back in the spring and hope to meet some folks from the site. thanks, again, Tom

wish i could have been there. I would have liked to seen how you would have done against my lil ole honda. Come on up next year, and we'll have to get them all lined up with JeffB's quad, Jamie's quad, Nick's and see how they run.

Will be interesting to say the least.,,,,,,,,, and FUN.

i'd be interested in that. if my memory serves me correctly, you hurt my 501's feelings about 2 years ago . it was plenty heavy at the time, setup with stock swingarm, but it was still sniffling on the way to home PA.

Cataway,

i had a great time as well. it was nice to meet a veteran on the dunes, someone who obviously loves the sport. it was also great to see that z400 bout keep up with my buddies yfz565.

we may try to organize for our glamis trip as interest is growing. looks like we have space in the big rig(s), but the logistics will be difficult to work out. i post some info here in the future about the trip.
