So like it says the whoops are kicking my trash. I'm riding my Trx450er 06 out at the dunes and I loose up the mountain because The faster i go through the whoops the more my rear end starts to loose it, or starts hoping around side to side or whatever it decides while the other guy just pulls away! Irritating as hell!
Is there something that maybe me as a rider is doing wrong? Or is this maybe a rear shock issue to where i need to just loosen up my rear shock.
And as far as i am aware its a stock suspension set up and i weigh 145lbs

try getting a GTT linkage. I hear that helps a lot with the rear shock bucking and its 175 bucks. not too bad.

It has a better progression rate and yes it lowers the quad a bit.

While your at it you minus well just have the shock rebuilt. Maultech does a rear shock with linkage for 300 bucks. I bet most people do them for around that price too.
Are you afraid of it lowering your ride height?

that and once your in there, and your hammering away.... DONT LIFT... the moment you lift its gonna start your ass swap..... and when I'm hitting a whoop section I always go into it a gear higher than I normally would be in. Just my .80 cents.

Wouldnt say afraid of lowering the ride hieght but i wouldnt like to lower too much because its a trail bike too. Would it be a bad thing not to re valve the shock if i get the link? And would i notice a difference between them?

I had all my shocks revalved and resprung for my weight and ride style. I most definetly notice a difference and is way better than it was in stock trim. I ride strictly XC and haven't had one issue with my lower ride hieght - 7" at the foot pegs and 7 3/8" right behind the A-arms. So much better than it was in stock form. Hope this helps- JMHO

try setting your rear rebound one click open from all the way closed. see if that helps before spending alot of money.

What he said combined with a linkage is best bang for under 200 bones.... helps a ton....

Like rwhitley said....the biggest thing is that you cant lift. Just pin it and let the bike do the work.

I tjink im gonna try setting the rebound like you guys said and see. And when you say lifting do you mean lifting the front end?
Never noticed whether or not i do that.
I guess we will see when i take the 450 out to little Sahara this weekend.

Don't let off the throttle. Got to keep the power on through the whoops.

So if you put a gt link on with stock shocks and it lowers the rear but not the front, does it still handle ok, and doesnt look stupid.

I had the same problem and I couldn't keep the front end down. I thought it may have been me something I was missing so I asked several people to ride my bike and see how it handled for them. I also have a friend with an 07trx and I took his up the hills no problem but all of my friends had the same problems with my bike that I did. So now a few thousand dollars later I have a +3 +1 front end with elka long travel and a rear elka long travel with an elka linkage and a +4 lonestar axle. I haven't been on it with the new rear shock and link but the whole problem allowed me an excuse to upgrade the whole thing. If you can afford to do it I would say have all the shocks reworked by someone with a good rep and put a new linkage. That will make the whole ride faster and upgrade what I think is the biggest weakness for the trx in the sand and thats the suspension.

Get a GTT rear link and look for a good GTT rebult rear shock online, or send yours oof, you gan get the link and rebuilt sock for i think 400. thats what im running on mine right now, and its waaaay better than stock! and the kicking seems to dissapre, it will help out on the whoops at the bottom of the face, good luck

So what i did was loosen all of my springs to where i think they would be best i noticed it was better than what it was but... I did not mess with the rebound because i guess i confused myself

and what i mean by that is when you guys say one click from all the way closed what direction do you mean (S And H) one click open from H or S? And i am just assuming that H is for Hard and S for soft. But it that S for Soft terrain And H for Hard or WHAT?! I want to try to dial it in without spending a whole lot. Free is better! And then maybe i will get the link

the link does "lower the center of gravity" on your R which does help alot.. If I remember right the 450r is the highest sitting 450 race quad out there right now..

GTT re-valve and linkage was a HUGE improvement for me in the whoops. I used to get sketched out really easily through whoops with my stock 05 setup. Now I am running a 08 OEM Swing Arm with a GTT revlaved 08 OEM shock and linkage. Love it. Although I may go to +2 someday.

I just had my first ride out with the GT linkage and I couldn't believe the difference! I have all factory shocks and just that link changed the entire rideability. The seat height was lowered about 1.5" and sags a bit more but the ride is just so much smoother than I expected. Whoops are much smoother to ride through now and jumping is much more enjoyable. I will definately be looking at some revalves for the front when the money tree drops its leaves again (tho it seems to be an evergreen

)

The tree just is never dropping the good ole money is it? haha But its the fall and i may just have to get the link. I did take the bike out after messing with the rebound out to five mile, It did better than i expected but again i think its still missing something hmmmm maybe the GTT link i have heard so much about... we will just have to see if the link really is all that worth it.
