be VERY careful when tightening that bolt, if you strip the threads or break the bolt off in the threads your going to have to split the cases to fix it, there is NO other way to fix it so be warned!!

Your tranny fluid looks like crap.

Take my advice. Go to your local Honda dealer and pick up a bottle of the 2 stroke Synthetic 80/85wt transmission fluid. (yes you can use it in your 4 stroke)

I agree man thats some neglected trans fluid there.

Hey Rick i saw you mention about having split cases if it strips...
Is there no way to get at if remove the right side cover???
Im curios as the dealer overtightened mine when they did the starter update
and i chased the threads on the bolt but it was a lil tough going back in.
I though of getting a long tap to run into it clean up the threads.
Any thoughts on that???

no there is NO other way lol, my buddy stripped his 07 after a torn seal got lodged in the drain hole (seperate issue)

tried to do it from the outside of the right case but no luck, so motor had to be pulled and we had to split the cases to heli-coil the threads

i inspected and inspected and could see no other way of fixing it so be careful is all i can say!! if there is 1 bolt on the quad i would always tighten with a torque wrench this would be it!!!

I hate changing my tranny oil, I do it all the time but I hate it. I always get nervous because there is no window. I usually just drain it, measure the new oil, then fill. I wish there was a window like the engine.
