So i decided to build my own arms out of some 1" moly .058 wall. about +2 but with the heims i can possibly go to 3 0r 3.5, just havent wanted to do thats cause its already wide. they are considerably lighter. i used 3/8" heims on the frame and 1/2" heims on the spindles, and just shaved the spindles to allow for the arms to clear. i found some half in to 3/8" misalignment saces for them to allow the heim to pivot more on the spindle.

im running about 2 degrees neg camber
and about 3.5 degrees caster.
what does everyone think about that
also just got some free dirt tires fronts are 23" and the rears are 19". i dont know if i want the rear tires that small for riding in the rocky places like ocitillo.

thanks for reading

Looks good. If I can make a suggestion...Most aftermarket a-arms are in the .083 to .095 wall thickness, and sometimes .120 wall.

ya, i really thought about it, but figuring i was just gonna try it out and see. they seem very stout as is. ive semi tested it on very rutted out and pothole dirt road, very very similar to desert conditions and they seem to hold up. but yes i considered making them thicker

Its hard to tell from the pic but it looks like you changed the angles of the top arms in relation to the lower arms, which will drastically change camber throughout your travel. Also adjusting for width with your heims is NOT recommended. If they're +2 overall, leave them. Heims on the spindle are meant for camber changes, not making the quad wider. Ideally you want the heims or balljoints or whatever you used in as far as possible to avoid damage.

I commend you for taking the bull by the horns and making your own arms, but they may need some refining.

And more power to ya, what ever you build and work the bugs out of will be better than the Burgard arms that I bought, the friggin lower ball joints dont even have the same angle on them.
Always glad to see people take the initiative to create something themselves, especially since this has become a market of "who can spend the most on a quad"

ok here's some more pics once i remembered my photobucket account.

i took the stock arms and made a jig from them, and then took the new arms and made them 2 inches longer. so that means the lower arms are 2 inches longer than the stock arms and the uppers are 2 inches longer. physically it is possible to make the arms bend however they want as long as they end up where the spindle axis needs to be

this is my new exhaust wrapping job i did too.

They look good thumbsup.gif
Do some careful testing on them and see how they hold up.
